“Being family is determined more by behaviour than blood.”

~Unknown

“Leave, and don’t you dare come back!” Her mother screamed, giving Alexandra a hard shove. Her small body went tumbling into the evil-looking man. The man stepped to the side, letting her tumble to the ground.

“B-but-” She stuttered, biting her trembling lips. Getting up slowly, she didn’t bother brushing the rocks off her bare knees. “P-p-papa, he-”

“Don’t say his name! You don’t deserve to. You’re the reason he’s d-d-dead!” Miranda screamed.

Silent tears ran down Alexa’s cheeks, blood trailing from her cuts. “Don’t say that! Papa’s alive!”

“Urgh!” Alexander’s mother ran a frustrated hand through her hair. “Stop acting so innocent! You killed him. Admit it!”

“No, I-”

A harsh slap cut her off. Her eyes widened, the waterworks stopping. A stinging sensation made itself apparent on her cheek, and she felt something trickle from the side of her lip. Lifting her small hand, she slowly wiped it across her lip; it came back coated in red. “Y-y-you sl-”

“Just the shut the hell up!” She threw the first punch, and Alexa’s body hit the ground with a thump. And that’s when the beating began. But though the beating, Alexandra heard faint cackling, making its way to her ears over the sound of her screaming.

Alexa ran forward, tackling him to the ground. They both hit the ground with a loud thump, Alexa landing on top. Alexander rolled them over so he was on top. Like hell she was going to let that happen. Grabbing his biceps, she lifted her hips up and boosting her right hip higher so he tumbled off. Moving so she was on top once again, she pinned his arms down. He struggled against her, but she remained unmoved.

“I told you I was the best Agent, didn’t I?”

He rolled his eyes. “You’re not still stuck on that, are you?”

Alexa huffed. “Of course I am!” She exclaimed. “Now why were you punching Zhang?”

He groaned. “First get off of me, and then I’ll tell you.”

Alexandra snarled. Stupid idiot needed to start listening to her. Purposefully pressing down harder, she repositioned so her knees were pressing into his ribs. “Tell me.”

He groaned. “We were testing who was stronger.”

Alexa turned to look at Zhang who standing silently in the back. She raised her eyebrows in question.

“He’s telling the truth.”

“Thank you! Now get off me, you fat ass,” Alexander ordered.

“You’re not the boss of me,” she childishly mumbled, but moved nonetheless. Rolling to the side, she pulled herself onto the sofa. “Why were you guys even testing who was stronger?”

Alexander rubbed his ribs softly. “That’s gonna leave a bruise,” he muttered, looking at Alexa accusingly. Louder, he said, “We needed to prove our manliness, so…” He trailed off.
