“He’s got the world’s softest knuckles. They’re like rubber the way they bounce off my steel balls.”
~Jarod Kintz, Seriously delirious, but not at all serious
She glanced down at the address scrawled on the neon yellow colored sticky note to check if she was at the right house. She was. Climbing the four stairs which led to the main entrance, she rang the doorbell, standing there with bated breath. After standing there for a minute with no response, Alexa rang the doorbell again. Once again, there was no response.
Pushing down the urge to panic, she walked to the window at the front of the house and peered in. There was only one light which was on, and standing underneath it was a girl no older than 12. Her dirty blonde hair fell down to her shoulders, slightly curling at the bottom. She was staring at what seemed to be the opposite wall, her eyes wide in fright.
Although Alexa hadn’t seen her sister since she was a little baby, she was sure that the girl in front of her was Hayley. The resemblance with their mother was uncanny.
Suddenly, Hayley’s mouth opened in a scream, and she ducked, her hair flying up as she went down. Alexa’s face was practically pressed up against the window as she tried to see who else was inside. It was a futile attempt.
Nearly screaming herself when she heard Hayley’s ear piercing scream, Alexa ran for the door, swiftly pulling 2 bobby pins out of her hair. She knew she couldn’t shoulder slam the door open, either, as the person inside would be alerted and could easily kill her. She quickly pulled the small ball-like things on the ends off with her teeth and bent one of the pins so both the prongs created a ninety degree angle. Taking the other one, she bent it as well so it resembled a loop. Shoving it into the bottom of the hole, Alexa pushed it slightly. Taking the pick, she inserted it and wriggled it. She heard a click.
Pulling them out, she placed them in her jeans pockets before pulling her gun out. Without hesitation, she turned the door knob and kicked the door open, her gun up and ready.
The first thing she looked for was the person attacking Hayley. At first, all she could make out was the silhouette of multiple figures. And then someone flicked the lights on.
Immediately, 2 guns were pointed at her, and another was being held up against her sister’s blonde head.
“Who are you?” One of the men asked. He was glaring at her, his gun centered at her chest. His greasy black hair fell into his hooded eyes, but he didn’t bother to brush it away.
“Your mom,” she retorted.
A creepy grin enveloped his face, revealing shockingly white teeth. Apparently, somebody had an obsession with teeth. “All the more reason to kill you.”
“Mommy issues?” She asked sympathetically. “I can relate.”
For some reason, this set off the bull. Idiotically, he threw his gun at the wall and dived for her. Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, she side-stepped him. When he stumbled past her, she kicked him behind his right knee, resulting in him kissing the floor. Placing her foot on his back, she placed her gun on the back of his skull.
Looking up at the remaining two men, she glared them in warning. “Drop the guns, or he dies,” she stated coldly, ice practically dripping off her words. They didn’t lower their guns. “Have it you way,” she said before shooting the man who had him gun aimed at her. The bullet hit him in the forehead, giving him no time to react.
