"Rhys, what the hell is this? I'm hearing about someone smashing tables and yelling about Jack. What are you doing?" I ask, having found Rhys and Vaughn waiting in my office

"Whaaat? That's weird I wonder what that's all about" He laughs nervously. His robotic hand runs through his hair and I notice some scratches on the yellow paint. Rhys is one of the worst liars I know, which is odd because being fluent in the language of bullshit is practically a requirement to work at Hyperion.

"There's broken glass all over both of your shirts" Yvette points out "Who else would do this shit?"

"Oookay y'know what? We all need to sit down somewhere and discuss whats been going on. Hmm... I wonder where. Oh, how about Rhys' place? It's really cozy it's got some couches and a bed... And a shower" Vaughn wiggles his eyebrows at me. Rhys glares angrily at him before turning back to the group

"Well, we should talk a little more privately about stuff like this. The people around here are so nosy" He looks around

"Fine, we'll at meet at Rhys' after work... This better be good" Yvette says

------------------

"So you're saying you weren't in control of your arm?" I ask

Rhys nods

"How do we know it didn't just glitch or something? That happens, right?" Yvette asks, pouring herself some tea

"I broke a table, Yvette, that doesn't just happen," He frowns "I have no idea what's going on"

"This whole thing is really getting out of hand" I feel a small pain in my chest, knowing that Jack's AI must have something to do with this.

"Oh... Yeah, about that... (Y/n), can I Uhh... speak to you in the other room?" Rhys asks

I nod, trying to restrain myself from joking that this is 'a bit suggestive'. I follow him down the short hallway from the kitchen to the living room. Concern washes over me when he refuses to make eye contact.

"Listen, I uhh... Jack really doesn't like me being around you. And umm... I dont know... It might not be the best idea for -"

"Are you trying to get rid of me?" I ask, a little offended at his words.

"No, no, the last thing I want is to be away from you but... Things could get really messy"

I cross my arms and plaster a fake grin over my face, humoring him "Okay, then if that's not the case, why doesn't he want me around you?"

He sighs, looking anywhere but at me "I just don't think us hanging out is a good idea anymore"

"Fine, you prick" I mumble the last part under my breath.

"What?" He raises an eyebrow, in obvious disbelief. Despite my young age and less than intimidating appearence, Jack had taught me a few things about standing up for myself and speaking my mind. I know how to take care of myself and I refuse to take shit from anyone, especially someone I consider a friend.
