As I was walking around the kitchen, getting the ingredients and preparing them, Noah just sat at the counter watching everything I was doing.
"So, Noah...how did you come to know Xander?" I asked.
He looked at me and said nothing. I got it...touchy subject.
"Okay then, what city did you live in England?"
He was silent for a moment. I was think ing that there was no use asking questions anymore, until he finally answered, "I never lived in the city. I lived int he countryside. That was where my pack lived."
"What was the name of your pack?"
"The Imperium Pack."
My eyes widened, "Whoa. That's a pretty powerful pack...I guess they really do live up to their name."
His eyes seemed suddenly very engaged, "You know what Imperium means?"
"Yeah, it's latin for power, right? I lived six years alone, I read a lot of books."
Noah nodded his head.
"Do you read?"
"Sometimes."
"What kind of books?"
"The one's that I know."
"So what books do you know?" I pushed.
He thought about for a minute, then said, "Before my wife died, every night she would read her books out loud and I couldn't help, but listen. The books she once read are the only ones I would ever read."
I was silent for a minute. I didn't expect him to say anything about his wife. In a lot of situations, a lot of girls wouldn't have liked a man they fancied, talking about a woman they loved. But for some reason...I didn't mind. In fact, I wanted to know more of her. It was interesting to me that...the one person who had gotten through to Noah, was a human girl. However, at the same time, I do have conflicted emotions, like if he compared me to her? Or if I wasn't good enough, or if he didn't end up loving me as much as he loved his wife?
"She sounds lovely." I said softly.
Noad nodded, "She was."
"How long ago did she-"
"Six years ago. Kieth was still a little pup." I nodded my head in understanding.
"I'm sorry for your loss." I whispered.
Noah looked down at the counter and shrugged. we both ended up sitting in each other's company in silence. He sitting on the counter while I was cooking.
The silence was broken though when he sighed, "So...how are you and Soul?"
My back was to him while I was stiring the pot. I couldn't help, but smile to myself. He was digging for information on whether I was still single or not.
"Oh...me and Soul, yeah we're not like that.""I thought you guys went on a date though."
"Yeah we did go on a date...and it didn't work out. So we decided to be friends."
After I stirred the pot I poured some into a bowl and placed a spoon in it.
"Why didn't it work out?" He asked bluntly.
I turned around and placed the bowl in front of him, "Because he has a mate. I encouraged him to go after her. I made him understand how precious mates can be," I looked at Noah in the eye and said, "They are the only ones that can make the broken feel whole again. I just had to make him understand. And he did. So now he is going after her."
Noah stared right back, no sign of submission, "But what if being with a mate can also hurt them. What if staying away is the best thing for them."
I leaned in closer from across the counter, "Well that's a stupid reason because they are meant to be together no matter what. Once you find a mate, you be with them, simple as that."
Noah leaned in closer, "But it isn't always that simple. What if he was doing that to protect her? What if he acted like that so than his mate could be free from pain and hurt."
"Be that as it may, but the female should still have a mate. I mean, who knows what the female may have gone through? She may have had a very very traumatizing experience as a child? Huh? Ever think of that? And the only thing she needs is the love, comfort and protection that a mate can provide. It doesn't matter if the mate gets hurt or is in pain or not. What matters is if the mate is with her when it starts to hurt when she starts to feel pain. And then he can hold and tell her it's okay, Noah!" I felt my eyes sting slightly with wetness. But I blink them away. I was breathing heavily from talking so fast. I turned around and closed my eyes. I shake my head and turn back around, beginning to clean the kitchen.
Noah was staring at me intensely, watching me as I clean.
"Are you going to eat your food or what?" I growled at him. Then what got me shocked was that Noah looked slightly amused with me being frustrated. But he remained silent and began to eat his soup. He hummed as he ate it. That's good, he must like it then.
I continued to clean the kitchen until it was spotless. I looked back at Noah and saw he finished, I took his bowl and put it into the sink, "Did you like it?" I asked,
he nodded his head, "Yeah. It was good." Then his brows furrowed, "But I think I've had that before. The taste is familiar, but I can't remember where I had it."
I was washing his bowl and said, "I fed it to you when you were sick and wounded."
"Really?" He questioned. He looked down and frowned as if he was trying to remember, "You did, didn't you."
I softly smiled at the memory, "I remember you didn't want to eat, but you were so weak. You had to. So I decided to trick you. I told you that you should just try to sleep. Then when you yawned...I shoved a spoon full in your mouth," I giggled, "You were so mad, but you still complied."
I looked back up at Noah. I just saw a glimpse of his eyes going soft, but immediately turn hard. "I must've been really sick then." He said.
I continued to mop, "Yeah, you were in bad shape." Once I finished with all the cleaning. Kieth came running in. As soon as he saw me, his eyes brightened and his smile widened.
"MIA!" He screamed. He raced towards me and gave me a big hug. I laughed as I hugged him back.
"Hey Kieth, what have you been up to huh?"
"You wouldn't believe it Mia. I just saved the Luna, from the Alpha."
I frowned in concern, "What do you mean? What happened?"
So he started to explain, "Well, what happened was that I went to the Alpha office to ask where Xavier was. But when I went in The Alpha's diddle was out and the Luna was about to touch it! It was so bad! And I think the Alpha's diddle was angry at her because it was pointing right up at her. Uncle Soul taught me that girls shouldn't see boys diddles. So I ran in and stood in front of the alpha so than the Luna couldn't see anymore! And I said, "Close your eyes Aunt Lizzy!" And she did. Don't you see Mia? I am a hero!"
I looked down at Kieth for a long time. I could not believe what I just hear. I was biting my lips so than I wouldn't laugh. I looked up and saw the Alpha and Luna standing there. The Luna giggled and blushed and the Alpha looking frustrated.
Kieth turned around and saw the Alpha, "You're not supposed to show girls their diddle Uncle Xander!"
I couldn't help it. I burst out laughing. I was laughing so hard and so loud. It hurt so bad. I was clutching my stomach, because laughing was hurting to bad.
"I can't believed that happened!" I laughed. Tears building in my eyes. Lizzy was doing the same. I looked at Noah and saw that he was looking down, but had a small smirk on his lips.
I couldn't keep it in, I had to let it out.
"Okay, yea okay, it's funny. Whatever." The Alpha growled, "No one is to speak of this...Ever. if I do hear of it, I will lock you in the cells."
Then he stomped off with a laughing Lizzy following behind him. Wow what a story!
