NOAH

When Mia was finally asleep, I dried her off and put a new t-shirt on her. I laid her in her bed and pulled the covers over her. She was still pale. I rubbed my thumb over her cheek, looking at her face. I frowned. I hate that she was in so much. I hate I couldn't do anything about it.

Right then, the bedroom door opened and Carrow came in. I rolled my eyes. "Wow you're just on time." I said sarcastically.

She scowled at me, "I didn't come on purpose."

"What?" I exclaimed, "You let her feel of that pain on purpose." I stood from the bed and faced her, "How could you do that when you knew she needed your help? What kind of a witch are you?" I snarled.

She walked by me, not even acknowledging my complaint. I growled. I hate it when she does that.

She sat next to Mia's sleeping form and pulled the blanket a little high to make her more comfortable. She stroked her hair gently before pulling something out of her pocket. It was a tiny crystalized bottle. She opened Mia's mouth a little and sent tiny drops in. I'm assuming it was a serum to prolong her sleeping state.

"Mia's heat is different from the other females." She stated.

I went and sat on a chair and listened.

"Her ancestors were the first ordinary wolves to be mated to a male lycan. There was once a woman called Nova Wallflower. She was a healer. She was in the woods trying to find a rare herb called Athalas. It was a rare natural antibiotic that she wanted in her collection. But what she didn't know was that she had stepped foot into a dangerous area. No woman should go there alone. She was ambushed by  five male wolves all with impure intentions to ravage her. They held her down, but all stilled when they heard a very dark and echoing growl. The growl of a wolf...a lycan wolf. He appeared out of the bush. He was a very big and intimidating man. His name was Killian."

My eyes widen, "Killian? You mean my-"

"Your ancestor...yes. He killed the five male wolves and saved Nova. As soon as they touched they both knew. They were mates. He did not understand because there was no such thing for a lycan to be mated with an ordinary wolf. Lycans can only mate lycans because their body's are compatible. But because their belief in the moon goddess's plan, they never questioned it and they embraced the mating bond. They did not mate straight away because Nova was still shaken from the attack. However this triggered a heat that is so powerful."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because she is mated to a Lycan. Her heat was amplified because Killian was a powerful male. Her heat was designed to draw in Lycans. And therefore draw in her mate."

"But when Mia was in heat I couldn't smell anything different about her."

Carrowed chuckled, "Because her Lycan heat was not designed for her scent to draw in her mate. It was made to draw in other males so than her mate would have to guard her and protect her. Males would come from near and far to find her. But Killian's Lycan within him took control. He let his beast out in order to protect his mate. He would guard her without fail day and night until her heat was over."

I frowned in confusion, "But then how would that force them to mate?"

Carrow's eyes softened, "Lycan males are not emotional at all. But when someone they care about is in harm, it triggers an emotion. A connecting emotion between two mates. That emotion drew him closer to Nova and so they mated."

"So, the heat is not a scent for Male Lycan mates. The heat triggers emotion that starts the mating process?"

She nodded her head, "Yes. That is why her heat is so intense and painful. The longer she waits the more painful it will be. This has been every female in her bloodline. All females in her bloodline was destined for a lycan male, but many do not find them because they have become rare. So they settle for their ordinary male mates. You are the last Lycan Male Noah. And she is the last female to be destined with one. Do not deny the bond any longer."

I looked down at my hands and sigh, "I do not want to deny it anymore. It's her. She is indecisive because of the fact that I am engaged."

Carrow nods her head in understanding, "I understand. Let her make her decision. And you will have to accept whatever she wants."

I just listened silently. I made no move to respond, but she knew I was paying attention. Carrow stood up and walked to me, she squeezed my shoulder before walking out, but she turned and said, "She is still in her heat Noah. Once she wakes...she will be in more pain than before. Be prepared. " Then she leaves.

I stood up and ran towards Carrow, "Wait!"

She looks over her shoulder.

I stand there silently for a moment. Contemplating whether this was a good idea or not. But I knew if I didn't I wouldn't be able to have the full strength to protect Mia. I close my eyes and snarled to myself. I didn't want to though. It was his fault that I was tortured for six years. He is a problem. But then if I don't there could be a chance for Mia to be hurt. I opened my eyes and made my decision. I won't let them touch her.

"They are coming aren't they." I said, "They will be here to try and take her."

Carrow nodded her head.

I took a step forward, "Then I need you to undo the spell."

She frowned, "What spell?"

"The spell you did to me when I was a boy,"I took a step forward and whispered, "I need you to set the beast free."

Carrow's smiled with her eyes filled with pride...and aggression.
