i'm here!!
i couldn't help but smile. i put my slice of pizza back on my plate, and stood up. "alright, kids. i have a friend coming over, try not to creep him out."
holden raised his brow, "so, who is this guy? why haven't any of us heard of him?"
i sighed, and bent down to give holden a forehead kiss. "i'll explain it one day, just not now."
holden opened his mouth to speak, but he was cut off by the doorbell. thank god.
in this moment, i was so thankful that our parents had dropped off a ton of clothes for us. i was given a pale blue slip dress, and i loved it. my dad did me a favor by taking bailey's sweatshirt. we all decided to wear our party outfits, just because. it was an amazing idea, it actually cheered us all up a bit.
i made my way to the door, and got on my tiptoes to look through the peephole. my heart started pounding again.
i turned around, and whispered to my friends. "it's him, act cool."
i unlocked the door, and opened it.
"hey, tinky winky. thank you so much for coming." i tried to give him a hug, but all he did was stiffen up. "uh, are you okay?"
ethan coughed, and nodded quickly. "you look super pretty today, masen. you always look pretty though, so what's new?"
i could feel my cheeks heating up. "oh, stop. you're a sweetie."
he came in, and i locked the door behind him. "you guys, this is ethan," i couldn't help but notice that holden was glaring at ethan.
"um, ethan... meet serena, braxton, ginger, and holden." i gestured to each of them as i said their name.
everybody had a smile on their face, well... everybody except for holden.
ginger looked him up and down, and shot me a sneaky glance. "you're a keeper, ethan. where did masen get you from?"
he laughed, and ruffled my hair. "did you hear that, mase? i'm a keeper."
i rolled my eyes playfully, and crossed my arms.
he actually was a keeper, i just knew it.
just as everybody was starting to get settled, everybody's parents barged into the room.
"we have... bad news," my mom ran her hands through her thick hair. "they found bailey... he broke into our house and... he shot himself... he was on your bed."
