They went back to the helicopter and then back to the headquarters' landing pad. They got dressed again and dried off.
"I promise, Kate, they aren't the least but evil!" He laughed when she proceeded to deny that they could possibly be good.
"There was just, there was just something about them.." she trailed off knowing she was probably wrong at this point. Kate Smiths was the stuborn type but she'd make it looklike she was right eventually... hopefully to at least some degree. He laughed along though so it wasn't something to be upset about on either end. As they walked back to the lobby Abe suggested brunch.
She'd forgotten that she didn't eat any breakfast that morning. they did have a break for the next couple of hours so she didn't see any real reason to protest the idea.
"Sounds like a great idea!" She beamed.
" let's get changed, we have plenty of time to explore the city afterwards as well." He said smiling back at her as they boared the elevator.
It really was like the tradegy that the morning had baerd never happened. The atomosphere seemed much lighter now and everything was brimming with happiness and forgivness. Kate looked over at Abe he was smirking at the wall in some sort of thought, he seemed especially joyful as he rocked back and forth on his heels, hands in his pockets.
She realized that she didn't really have anything to wear to brunch. She had a nice dress but it was way to fancy for a simple morning date. She could ask to borrow something from Jazlen, yeah, she could just pop, in she was her other neighbor afterall. They stepped off the elevator and Kate stopped by her door and knocked lightheartedly. Abe asked what she was doing.
"Oh I'm just borrowing a dress, I don't really have anything to wear..." She laughed.
"Oh okay!" He grinned at her efforts to look nice thinking it over. He was way over analysing it in the inside. Abe went in and shut the door softly behind him.
He gave a huge smile into his apartment." she forgave me," he sighed ", maybe I have a chnce with her afterall..." He went to his room and dug through his dresser. He thought over what all dressed jazlen had. She had a simple, vintage sense of style. It concentrated on pastel colors and a lot of floral and basic designs.
He shuffled through his closet and found a basic gray shirt with some mint green logo and a pair of black jeans. He chose a pair of black and white vans to go with it and got dressed. He was still giddy about Kate she just seemed so perfect.Meanwhile Kate had borrowed a very cute olive green denim dress that came down to her knees. It had lace details and it was a halter top. She got dressed and fixed her makeup once she as pleased with her appearance she and Abe left for the elevator.
He lead her to the car port and showed her past the big black suv. He explained that he actually had his own car which he prefered. It was a good as new white jeep with blacked out tires.
" i saved up for it a few years ago, I'm not sure how many it might as well have her twenty as well as 2... time passes much faster once you don't have anything new or different to remember them by." He signed as they climbed in.
" oh, how long does the whole immortality thing take to set in?" She said fastening her seat belt and getting comfortable on the aslo blacked out leather seats. He started the car.
" well, for me it was when I bought a house with my own money from working here, I remember the place where I bought it was amazed at how young I was but in reality I was in my fourties at the time. " he turned on the radio and some weird old songs were on, he quickly flipped the channel to more modern music.
Kate was thinking about how old he really was, was it wrong to feel the way she did about him? If it was would be be able to feel the same way about her without feeling wrong himself. She could ask him.
"I still can't really process that you're as old as you are..." Kate began. Abe thought he saw where she was going with this.
"it's not wrong to lik- it's not really something to think about, you and I might as well be the same age because, well, we're immortal." He tried to save himself but she caught what he almost said. He was pulling out of the building and into the tunnel now. They were headed out, almost to the open road. Why wasn't she saying anything?
"Do you think love at first sight exists?" She blurted out the question not really knowing what else to say. Suddenly he slowed the car which was outside the tunnel now. She was utterly shocked when he pulled over to the side of the road, unblucked himself and leaned over the console. He brought both hands to the sides of her face and held her gently there. She looked at him, right into his eyes and grinned.
"I didn't think so before..." he trailed off with a smirk "...you make me belive it" he slowly brought his face to hers. He briefly brushed her lips and she slowly took off her own seatbelt to get closer into him. He broke the kiss just as quickly. not wanting to go to far too soon.he knew he allready had.
He brought her head into his chest and held her there in a warm, tight embrace. He had very litterally lost everything he had with time, and here she was. It was like he'd been given it all back. He put his head into the crook of her neck now and held her for longer he didn't want to let go any time soon.
