stargazing
when i have
stripped my body
of distractions
and cleansed off
all the things
unwanted,
i feel clean and free and happy.these are one
of the rare times
i forget the life
that strangles me.there is barely
a moon in the sky,
just a sliver,
but the glow from the stars
around it
suffices.i smile—
i am sure
the stars make
some of the best companions
for the moon;
they listen to her every breath
and always stay by her side,
illuminating a dark blanket of sky
when she cannot.and then
i wonder if
i have friends like the stars,
and for once,
i cry because i am grateful,
and the night air
envelops me in a sweet
embrace;
i can feel the way
the moon loves its stars
and how its stars adore her,
and i can feel the way
the night sky drapes its arms
around me and tells me
maybe
i am going to be alright
in the end.—lana
