(A/N: Requested by anon: "Can you do a Connor Murphy x Deaf! Reader where the reader is new and when the people at the high school find out they kind of outcast and bully the reader. Possibly add in that Connor learns sign language for the reader"

I researched, and I'm doing my best to portray this properly. Apologies if I don't...)

New school. New people. New social structure. Same you.

Being born the way you were, it wasn't your fault. It wasn't anyone's fault. It was a complication during your mother's pregnancy, and that was that. Being Deaf wasn't a cage of isolation or a damnation of any kind. It was just different.

Leave it up to high school to change that.

Teenagers aren't as accepting of the things children tend to look past. You started ninth grade at a cutesy little high school in New Jersey. You even had a best friend named Michael. Despite your happy outlook on the world, it slowly began withering away as people called you names and treated you like some sort of alien. You technically couldn't hear them, but it didn't make it hurt any less when you could read their lips.

You got bullied out of that school. The next one wasn't too heinous. You were practically invisible, and began to enjoy it. However, after a chain of suicides and a freak explosion, your mother made you transfer before you had a chance to protest.

That's how you met the beautiful son of a bitch, otherwise known as Connor Murphy.

"[Name], really, you're being ridiculous," your mother said. Rather, she signed, but ASL is a confusing thing if you don't understand it, and sentences are very broken up. You knew what she meant, though.

Most of the time, you read her lips, or used SEE. You could kinda use gestures and motions to convey what you needed, but not in the car.

You rolled your eyes. "Not. School. People. Bad." You signed back. Pulling up to the school, you waved to your mother with a semi fake grin. You didn't wanna meet new people, or have them pity you, or whatever. You weren't in the mood for teachers who didn't understand you, or kids trying to harass words out of you.

The principal was nice enough. He spoke slowly and clearly, aware that you needed it in order to understand. He explained that the teachers were aware of the circumstances and that they'd teach accordingly.

When you were younger, you had special classes or a translator.  You insisted that it wouldn't be necessary after your first high school, specifically because you didn't want people knowing. Being deaf wasn't something you were ashamed of, but the less your classmates knew, the better.

Clutching your books, you strolled off to your next class. You paid attention to your surroundings, unlike some people. Colliding with another boy, you stumbled.

You composed yourself, glaring at him. He had messy, long brown locks and a dainty nose. Bending over to pick up the fallen books, you met eyes.

He had the most beautiful eyes. Colors had always been something you thoroughly appreciated, and this string bean had the most stirring blue eyes you'd ever seen. The blue puddles bled into brown in his right eye, and you found yourself gaping.

"H-hey, I'm sorry..." He mumbled casually. Looking up, he realized he didn't recognize you, and his face lit up. It meant a new start.

"You the new girl? I'm Connor." He rubbed the back of his neck, handing you the books and standing up. You weren't aware he was speaking, though, because you were looking at the floor at the time.
