Y/N's P.O.V

It was a shame that Monty was suspended. A real shame. Because I wanted nothing more than to waltz into school, my arms linked with his as we trotted through the halls. I knew we were an unlikely pair, him the bad boy jock, me the straight A student; I just didn't care. Labels were misleading. Unfortunately the rest of Liberty High didn't feel the same way.

I hadn't even been the gates for more than a few seconds before I was bombarded with teens, each pressing themselves against me, armed with an arsenal of questions.

"Is it true that Cruz hospitalised Alex?"

"Has he been expelled?"

"Did you hook up with him then?"

I clenched my fists in anger, trying to push past.

"Out of my fucking way" I wasn't in the mood to say the least.

"Oh my god are you dating?"

"They are totally dating"

"Nah, Montgomery doesn't do dating. Probably just a casual sex thing"

I whipped my neck around "Excuse me..." I began, a tone of hostility in my voice.

"Leave her alone!" shouted a voice I recognised to be Zach Dempsey from behind me, grabbing me by the wrist and leading me away. I was never more thankful to see the boy in my life.

"Thanks for that" I said once we are far enough away from the crowd "I had that under control though, I'm not some precious princess that needs rescuing" I joked, giggling and punching his shoulder.

"Trust me, I know" I said rolling his eyes. We were in the building now, swanning into Biology which we conveniently had together. "It's just that... you... and... Montgomery. I'm just not entirely sure that its the best combination". I tutted and rolled my eyes

"Not you as well" I snapped. Zach looked a little shocked.

"I didn't mean to ma..."

"Yeah well you did. I'm perfectly capable of thinking for myself."

"I'm only trying to look out for you". He was starting to irritate me a little as we slumped down at our desks.

"Oh thats weird I must be having deja vu. That's exactly what Alex said" I shot him a pointed look and it was enough to shut him up. Clearly nobody knew Montgomery like I did, not one other person.

The teacher and the rest of the pupils were in the classroom within the next few minutes, and I was glad. The awkward silence between me and Zach was getting slightly uncomfortable. Maybe I was being too harsh on him, he had helped me out back there after all, so I made a mental note to apologise to him later. The teacher looked me up and down as he sat his desk, tutting slightly and shaking his head.

"Nice to see you decided to join us today Miss Y/L/N" he said with an accusing edge in his voice.

"I'm sorry? I don't quite understa..."

"Don't think the school didn't notice you decided to skip all of your lessons yesterday Y/N. You're parent have been contacted" I was a dead woman and I knew it, a dead woman walking. My parents were going to kill me.

"Something... something came up" I said trying to reason with him.

"I'm very sure" he replied back, sounding anything but convinced. The class erupted into a fit of muffled giggles.

"We all know exactly where you were" a random voice said from behind me "Screwing De la Cruz most probably"

I didn't know who whispered it. but I shot around anyway, giving the entire back row of the class death stares.
