 Montgomery's P.O.V

By the time I had got to Bryce's they were all already there. Alex and Zach were fully absorbed in a video game, Bryce and Justin were wrestling and Marcus was just kind of watching everything. I never really liked that dude. I flung the doors to the summer house wide open and threw myself next to Alex ruffling his hair.

"Monty is in the building" I flopped down over the side of the sofa next to him.

"As if anyone cares De la Cruz"

"Fuck you Alex"

"I'll pass"

"Dudes, dudes. Montgomery chill you've been here three seconds. I've called you all here for a very special purpose." Bryce turned the tv set off and stood in front of it, beaconing Marcus and Justin to gather around it.

"It better be, coach wasn't too happy when I left baseball practice early" I said.

"You'll have to suck up to him some other time I guess" he replied sarcastically. I stuck my middle finger up at him. "It is time for the third annual LIBERTY HIGH PLAYER AWARDS" He said grandly, Zach huffed in annoyance.

"Are you being serious Bryce, after what happened last year? You messed that girl up for good."

"I won did I not?"

"If you can call that winning" Zach retorted under his breath

"Can somebody tell me what's going on?"

"Oh yeah Standall's new. Fill him in Bryce," Marcus muttered. Bryce grinned.

'Every year we nominate a girl for each of us. We set challenges for the other guys, see what we can get the girls to do: go on dates with us, tell us they love us, be our girlfriends. The guy that fools the girl for the longest wins. The we dump them all"

'We even have a trophy" added Justin.

"Are you fucking kidding me" Alex began "You're joking right? What? You're not? That's fucked up"

"Finally. Someone with some common sense. Or at the very least some morals" Zach announced, standing up.

"Zach's just a pussy. Doesn't want to get rejected. You in Alex?" asked Bryce

"You know for some reason breaking a girls hearts is not what I do for fun,"

"Fine," he huffed "Marcus? Justin?" The two boys nodded.

"Montgomery my man, are you up for it?"

"I'm not really sure" I was telling the truth, I always did feel kind of bad at the end of it.

"Only because you couldn't even get past the first round last time" mocked Marcus. I gritted my teeth.

"Fine then, I'll do it"

"Wow Montgomery. You're a bigger dick than I thought" said Alex rolling his eyes. I glared at him.

"Everybody out!" Bryce started shooing us out of the gazebo. "My parents will be back any time soon - remember the games have begun..."

"Unbelievable" snapped Zach.

"I can't believe your actually going through with this"

"It's only a game, geez relax" It was only a game. Sure, that's all I had to keep telling myself. It was just a dumb game but this year I was determined to win.
