Alice:

Apparently my parents had come up with the idea, well more like decided, that no daughter of theirs is going to stay at Beacon Hills anywhere but at their house.

Don't get me wrong I love my parents but what twenty-three, almost twenty-four, year old wants to live with their parents after having spent the last two years living alone? That's right, none.

Despite my attempts at trying to weasel my way out of it, here I am unpacking my clothes in one of the guest rooms. Luckily this isn't the one Kate stayed in.

A soft knock on my door cuts me out of my thoughts on how I don't want nor need to be haunted on this trip. Although I do know some hunters who deal with that type of situation.

"Come in." I call out, not bothering to stop from my unpacking. I hear the door click open followed by footsteps. Years of extensive training made my non-supernatural ears sensitive to the smallest of sound as not to be caught off guard. Being caught off guard in our family business is the equalivant of you willing signing off your death certificate.

"Hey." Her greeting was nothing short of cheerful. "I wanted to know if you needed any help."

I turn to face Allison before responding, "Way to wait till I'm almost done."

She smiles at my teasing and makes her way next to me. The last of my things were in the sole remaining suitcase opened atop the bed.

"I'll put your clothes on hangers and you let your OCD kick in and organize them in your closet." She jokes, making me let out laugh.

Allison's one of the very few people that can actually bring out a real laugh from me. The majority of the time I just use my rehearsed 'real' laugh because people just irritate me in general the majority of the time.

"Being OCD and being organized are two completely different things." I smile, taking the shirt and going over to the closet.

She let's out a laugh and hangs up another top. "Yeah, of course it is." I take a couple of the already hung clothes and walk back to the closet.

"Do you know where dad and Gerard went?" She asks, making me stop midhang of a dress.

"I think they went to mourn Kate in private." I respond before hanging up the dress and walking over to her. I know for a fact that they were off hunting, but since I'm suppose to act like I don't know anything-- I got left at home.

"I know you and Aunt Kate had a strained relationship." She starts. Strained is definitely one way to describe it. I mean there was probably three things  or so that we agreed on once she started being a total lunatic.

One was hunting, the second was on how Allison should have been told about the family business much sooner, and the third was hot men. We didn't have to both actually like a guy to agree if he was hot or not. It was kind of like our joke to point them out and try to make them blush and stutter.

"But I'm glad you decided to come anyway." She finishes in a content tone. I shrug before zipping up the empty suitcase and placing it under my bed.

"Family is family." I state, standing up straight again. "And plus I wouldn't miss on the opportunity to visit my amazingly sweet, and beautiful baby sister." I grin as a small blush grows on her cheeks.

"Thanks and you look great too." She compliments, taking a seat on the bed. I send her a grin in thanks of the compliment before grabbing my bag full of toiletries and heading to the bathroom.

I flick on the light and glance inside. Damn this is a pretty snazzy bathroom. I take out everything and start to put stuff away in the cabinets and drawers.

"Do you ever think about them?" Allison asks, breaking the comfortable silence.

"Who?" I question as I flick off the bathroom lights and head back to the room.

"Your birthparents." She clarifies quietly. Probably worried that I'll freak out or something over the subject.

Allison has never been one to ask me about them. In fact I'm pretty sure this is only the second time shes brought it up. I sigh quietly before walking over to the bed and taking a seat besides her.

"Al, it's okay to ask." I reassure her. "And no I was too young to remember much about them." It's true, I was only a year old when it happened. Sometimes I do remember a voice or two but that could be anyone really.

"Plus as far as I'm concerned you, mom, and dad are and always will be my family." She smiles at me, showing off her adorable dimples but then again this girl could be frowning and they'd still show up.

"So how long are you going to grace us with you presence." She teases, making me playfully roll my eyes at her.

"I don't know all grampa told me was to come for the funeral." I glance up at my closet. "But judging by all the stuff he made me pack a month or so." I answer.

She rubs her arm nervously. "Good maybe you'll divert some of dad's overprotectiveness away from me." I let out a small chuckle but quickly try to cover it up as a cough when she sends me a glare.

"Let me guess it has to do with a guy?" I question. She nervously bites her lip and nods.

I know dad can be at times be extremely overbearing, but I mean once you get sucked into this crazy life filled with supernatural creatures you really can't help but want to protect all the people you care about. Even if it is just from some boy your daughter wants to date.

I playfully nudge her shoulder with mine. "Well I'll see what I can do to get them off your case." In reality I don't think she knows that its mom she should be careful with when it comes to guys. She can be extremely intimidating whether she wants to or not.

"Girls dinner's ready." Speaking of my mother. Allison and I both get up, I smooth my skirt down before following her out of my room and into the hallway. We quietly make our way down stairs and into the dinning room.

"It's just going to be us girls tonight." Mom smiles as the three of us take our seats. In other words the hunters along side my dad and grandpa found something that needed taking care of. That something being a werewolf, if anything it's probably an omega.

"So hows your career been going, Alice?" Mom asks once we start serving ourselves.

"Its been going great I've just been working as a police officer to gain experience before I can take the test to become a detective." I respond before eating a fork full of pasta.

"You see Allison, your sister isn't afraid to take on such an intense career path." I can tell what she says has double meaning but I pretend not to catch it. I'm suppose to be unaware of everything, so I have to remember not to accidentally drop obvious hints.

"Why did you decide to want to become a dectective it just seems like an--odd pick for you?" Allison asks. Well because it's easier to not get questioned by the cops or divert their attention from you if you are one. . .

"I guess it's just the whole concept of being able to protect people." I shrug as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. Looking across to my mom I can tell by the smile on her face that she's happy with my answer.

And there's my mom for you, always trying to raise her little girls to become leaders of a group of hunters. Lovely isn't it.

"You should head down to the station here and work there." My mother tells me. In other words we most likely need you on the inside and you're going to stay here awhile.

Well at least I'll have something to do while I'm here.

"Of course, mom. I'll look into it tomorrow." I agree, earning a content look from my mother. Well look at the bright side what's the worst I can get into working as a deputy here.
