I noticed that we were walking straight past their apartment complex. I kind of felt bad as I walked past the broken shards from their window. Silently waving my hand over the frame above me, I formed another perfect glass pane.

I caught up with Snow and Charming.

“Where are we going?”

They turned to me.

“A diner. It’s called Granny’s.”

I nodded, like I understood, but I really didn’t. I had never heard of a diner in my life. I didn’t know what a lot of things were in this town. Shiny wheeled carriages. Poles with long black ropes attached to them. Diners. It sounded exciting. A new word. Diner, diner, diner. I got used to it.

We walked in through the glass doors and a girl in pigtails and really short, red, shorts walked past us towards an old lady. Everyone in the diner gave me a really weird look. The gruff guy was definitely from before. He was just a lot shorter than he was before.  A guy with a weird haircut and glasses was sitting with his dog. I sat down next to a woman with black hair and a blazer and a skirt on. A mean looking man with a pointy nose sat smugly in the corner and gave a ridiculing laugh.

“Since when does a queen buy lunch for homeless junkies?”

Even though I didn’t know what a junkie was, I knew it was meant to be insulting. I slowly turned around and stood up.  I could feel Snow’s uneasiness behind me.  The black haired woman had her attention on me.  I started the walk over to the man. I wondered if shape shifting worked here. I guess thinking of a roaring tiger turned on my animal side, because all of a sudden I was on four paws.  The smile melted from the man’s face. He put down his fork and started to rise slowly out of his seat.  I jumped over to the spot where he was and he sprinted out the back door. I turned around and changed back to a human. I was glad my clothes appeared back on. I returned to my seat and the black haired woman held out her hand. I shook it.

“I’m Regina. I’m the mayor of this town. That was impressing. I would enjoy giving you a tour of Storybrooke later this evening.”

“That would be quite satisfying.”

I turned to the waitress. Snow introduced her to me.

“This is Ruby. Ruby this is-“

“Annie.” I interjected.

“What can I get for you?”

“Er, may I please have a BLT?”

“Sure. Anything else?”

I watched Snow and Charming order their food, then we had a conversation about my life. Well, what I remember of it anyway.

“So can you tell us a little bit about you?”

I felt like the question was weird and invasive, but I guess I was just overreacting.

“There isn’t much. I can’t remember anything except the past week.”

They raised their eyebrows. I told them my story.

“How despicable. At least you escaped. And the boys go there willingly! Oh goodness.” Snow said.
