Lost Souls [Once Upon A Time]

Water and Air

Felix POV

I knew I was in trouble when Pan stormed into the camp. He stood in the middle of it and all the lost boys stared at him. 

"Why is is snowing?!" He demanded. "Someone did something wrong, and now it's snowing!" 

He looked over towards me, and I looked away guiltily. Big. Mistake.

"Felix. What did you do?" I shrugged coolly.

"I told her the truth."

"About what?"

"Her. No one wants her on the island, and she should leave. Even you don't want her here."

"Why the hell would you think about telling her? Let alone actually telling her? Do you ever want anything to change on this damn island?"

"Of course I do."

"Well I guess you just proved it. And the worst part is I don't know where she is. She either doesn't want to be found or she left by mermaid. Every lost boy here will get up right now and look for her. Do not stop until she is found." he finished. 

All the boys got up and scampered away. I didn't move.

"Felix, I said move."

"Yes, Pan." I got up and walked into the brush. I heard him behind me.

"Now I have to do the one thing that a lost boy never does. I have to apologize."

Annie POV

I stormed into the water and kept walking in. I knew that Peter would come looking for me, and since he could't detect me underwater, that was exactly where I would go. I knew I needed to leave. I had to get off the island, but I didn't know how. I couldn't fly, so what? My mind shot to Peter's words.

"You could've came by mermaid."

Perfect. I was walking into the water anyway. The waves were rising up to my neck, but I kept walking. Soon I was completely submerged. 

It's the weirdest feeling ever, when you can't tell the difference between water and air. You feel slowed, but otherwise exactly the same. I walked forward, somehow sucking oxygen out of the water and breathing. 

Something flashed in the corner of my eye. A tail. I seriously hoped it wasn't a siren. Maybe a mermaid. I swam over to the spot where I saw it, but it was gone. I thought about the mermaid and how the heck I would get one to take me to the other universe. I couldn't. No one would want to take me. I would have to be best friends with one in less than 24 hours. I wasn't willing to wait any longer.

Then I got a crazy idea. What if I was a mermaid? I could try it. I could swim all the way to the other world by myself. No other people. Or fish-people. It was worth a try.

I closed my eyes and pictured a beautiful tail:long and silvery. Then I went to the hair and chest. Obviously I couldn't swim around without a covering for my chest. That would be awkward. Seaweed tied tightly together to form a top. Then shimmering seashells and pearls woven into shimmering,silky hair. Although I would still have the same upper body and face. That was about it right? I opened my eyes.

So I had done it. I was a mermaid.
