Kameh

"Alright, shorty. You get home safe and let me know when you make it," he said, leaning in my window.

"You too. I'll miss you," I pouted, admiring his lips.

"You won't, but it's cool," he smirked pecking my lips a few times. "Let me know when you make it."

Smiling, he backed away from the car and I pulled out of the lot. I was going back to Philly for Thanksgiving and I was too happy to see my family. My brother just had a baby and my grandpa finished his cancer treatments. I missed my damn family.

Kaine was iffy about me driving back and forth alone, but I assured him I was fine. I guess you could say he and I were together but we never actually declared it. He was a big face on campus with him playing football and all; so naturally when he tried to talk to me I'd turn him down.

His appearance screamed pretty nigga with that male thot cut, with the tips of his curls dyed blonde. His face was basically perfect and his completely tattooed, chiseled torso was just icing on the cake. It took him a while to finally crack through my shell but once I got to know him, I could actually trust Kaine.

I never just openly told people we were in a relationship, but whenever you saw one of us around campus you'd more than likely see the other. With him being the face of the team, I never wanted to just say he was my man and then look stupid when he says he ain't tryna commit. It was all on Kaine when he decided I was 'his girl'.

I had my back and I had his. It was like a deep friendship with sex as a bonus in my eyes. He just started that 'I love you' thing and I honestly don't know where I stand on that. He's a real nigga, no lie, but every time I'm ready to fully let go, Kassius finds a way in my mind.

We haven't talked since left and I hadn't seen him any of the previous times I had been home. Word on the street was that he disappeared. I can't lie and say I didn't worry or still do, but Kassius was a different breed when it came to his hustle. He knew fates of the life he chose, so if there was opportunity to finesse he would do just that. The fact that Kash wanted any part of that bullshit pissed me off, but at least he was smart about it.

Pulling into my driveway, I left my bags in the car because I hoped my brother and the baby were here. Unfortunately everyone was gone, so I unloaded and made myself comfortable. I texted Kaine to let him know I made it safe and decided to find my brother myself.

"Who is it?"

"Nigga, open the door and you'll find out."

My brother looked so different. His goatee was now a full beard, his curls were now a fade, and it looked like he added a few tattoos here and there.

"KK," he greeted by my nickname as he opened his arms for a hug

"Hey ugly. I missed you," I teased hugging him and walking in. "Now where is my nephew?"

"Dang, I'm fine," he said sarcastically as I followed him to the living room. "But he with his mama. She should be bringing him tonight though."

"You a dad and shit. How does it feel?"

"I was a lil' scared when he was born 'cause lil man was breach. After that it was all good. I wish it could be different between me and her."

"Just give her some space, I think she'll be fine."

We conversated for a while, just catching up on everything. Zora, Shakur's baby mama, dropped Aiden off and we went back to my mom's. She made my favorite dinner, her smothered porkchops, greens, rice and cornbread. My aunt came by with my grandpa and we all ate. Home felt so good.
