Kameh

"Mel, just relax. You're girls look great, your work is flawless, everything will be fine," I coached as I wand-curled her bundles.

"I'm trippin. I need to make sure the DJ made it to set up on time. Everybody needs to be seated by 8:30," she ranted as she tapped away on her phone.

Snatching it away, I shoved it in my back pocket as I fought her reach. "Stop. Im finna pour us some wine and your ass finna chill."

"Shit, I need a blunt."

"You know I dont smoke like that, plus I really need to finish."

"The show gon' be good, right? I mean, from your view. How it look yesterday?" she questioned.

I chuckled, "Bitch, yes! You asked me the same damn thing yesterday. You know if something was off, I'd tell you. Just try to be happy, not nervous. You finally getting what you been working so long and hard for. You're fine, sis."

Sighing hard, she nodded, "Yeah, you right. I need that wine."

While she went to the kitchen, I texted Kaine back letting him know where and what time the after party was. He got cool with Shakur and some of his friends and they were going to the 76ers and Cavs game tonight. I knew he wouldn't be into the fashion show scene, but I damned sure was getting my kiss at midnight.

Winter break was great this year. I was beyond grateful that my people actually liked Kaine. Spending the holidays together was really changing my outlook on this relationship. Kaine was pretty much everything I needed in a man and it was really time for me to stop looking for problems. Even with my uncertainty he stuck around and didn't change up when he really didn't have to.

Shakur actually made a point when he said Kash wasn't what I needed. He'd always hold a special place in my heart, but he was a lot of the cause of my trust issues. I'd be a damn fool to go back, when what I had been wanting was already here. Of course I can't just forget him tomorrow, but I was definitely done entertaining false hope.

After finally finishing Mel's hair and makeup, I got myself together and we left for the venue. For the most, everything was set up and ready, but the make up artist had a family emergency. The last thing I needed was Mel throwing a fit, so I finished the last few models. Hair and make up was just something I learned well, so I knew I beat their faces to perfection.

"Bitch, you my rock," Mel whined, hugging me.

"Shut up and stop before you mess up your face."

"This shit finna drive me crazy. Let me make sure everybody in line. You staying back here?"

"Nah, I wanna see the show and I needs a drink. Go kill 'em, boo," I encouraged as I playfully slapped her butt.

"Thank you!"

Grabbing a mojito from the bar, I sat in the empty VIP section, texting Kaine. A few of Mel's friends and some other people began to come, so I just stayed to myself. The show was about to start, so I decided to grab one more drink. A local rapper Mel got to open was getting on stage and in the midst of trying to look, somebody bumped the shit outta me.

"Damn, watch where you going!" I yelled, noticing the wet stain from his drink on my dress.

"Aye, I aint see-"

That voice snapped my head up and Lord and behold, it was the last person I needed to see. Swiftly walking pass him to the bar, his voice followed, making me roll my eyes. Why tonight, Jesus?

"May, can you-"

"Mojito and a shot of tequila, please," I ignored him, talking to the bartender.
