Kassius
Zoe always said he never wanted a funeral. Just cremate his body and have a small gathering, only family. He had 2 older brothers and a sister, who was Camille's mom. Sharmaine basically took care of everything, of course Camille and I helped where she would let us. It was obvious she needed to stay busy...I knew her pain.
The get together was relatively small, but cool. Though it wasn't my family, they were the only ones I knew. With a sick mom, a snake for a father, coming up, I needed guidance. Zoe was more than my mentor. He was the father mine wasn't. Same for Camille. She was keeping busy like Sharmaine, but every now and again she'll space out or I'll see her cry a little. These women were strong as hell.
My head was all fucked up. The image of his head in that box haunts me every time I close my eyes. But that same nightmare is what's motivating me through this change. It's no secret Zoe left everything to me. He always said he would, but I never planned on taking it this soon, let alone him being murdered. Only one person had balls like that, sad to say it's my father.
I assumed the heat of the feud between Ace and Zoe had cooled, but I was definitely mistaken. he had been trying to send me a message and I heard this one loud and clear; but I'll be damned if i bend to it. Philly can't take another drug war and I refuse to be the cause of any more innocent blood shed. This was Ace I was coming for. He was untouchable, but if anybody was gon get at him it's gotta be me.
It had been 3 weeks since Zoe's death and still no one but immediate family knew. He owned legit businesses here and out of state so we had all of that put in Sharmaine's name. I took over his clubs, drugs and restaurant, but Camille would run the day to day.
Getting into drugs in no way was in my plans, but I knew what helped build what Zoe left behind. Thankfully, the accountant he had cleaned the dope money and invested in the businesses Zoe started. Now that I was in the head seat, I could cut the dope altogether and everyone still eats. But some shit had be handled first.
"Zoe always knew good product. You good with me, youngblood," Zeus complimented sipping from his styrofoam cup.
Zeus was Zoe's weed connect in Cali. We had met before and I knew for sure he wouldn't have a problem supplying me, but I figured we both could benefit from the new relationship.
"So how about we make an even trade. I come for Zoe's regular, you get at me for the mud."
Rubbing his chin, he took another sip. "Im with that. When you gonna need that first pack youngin'?"
"Eh two weeks. I should have your first 50 pints by then."
"Works for me. Zoe made a good choice. He said you were gonna be the man when he disappeared. You got my blessing, brother," he held his hand out.
Shaking it, "Respect, OG."
It was about an hour and a half ride back to town and I desperately needed a shower and food. I had been moving so much the past 72 hours, I barely had eaten. Making a stop by the warehouse, I knew no one would be there since it was almost 5 am so I decided to check inventory.
Opening the door, I spotted a figure in the darkness, causing me to immediately reach for my gun and flip the light switch.
"Damn son, reflexes like that Philly PD might have to recruit you," he spoke sarcastically, sippin out of a styrofoam cup. There were 2 open pints of lean in front of him, alongside a pistol. My first instinct was to unload my clip on his ass, but I had to play this shit smart. I knew what he was capable of, not to mention who knew who he may have told to come after me if he turned up missing.
