Managing to make in time for my last class, I could barely focus on the lecture texting Kash and worrying about Kaine. Kaine hasn't answered any of my calls since I made it back, nor was he wasn't in his dorm, which wasn't like him at all. Kash, on the other hand, was really down when I left. He kept asking when I would be back in town, but I just told him I'd let him know. Probably should've mentioned the fact that I'm with someone, but I refused to give him any reason to pick up another bottle.

The more I thought on his situation, I remembered how small his personal circle was. Kassius wasn't necessarily paranoid, but extremely cautious about who he let near him. He was never one to draw loads of attention to himself, so the whole 'celebration' excuse wasn't sticking. I knew he was never one to openly express his feelings, so I didn't pressure him on it. It was definitely something different about him.

After class, I knew I had to catch up on whatever I missed earlier today, but I needed to find Kaine. I tried him for hours, but still nothing. Paranoid, I went to the library and got a head start on my project for psych to keep my mind busy. Finally about 2 hours into working, I got a text.

Lil Baby : Sorry, I been MIA. Wya? - 9:29 PM

- I been calling & texting you all day!!! Where the hell are you?! - 9:30 PM

Lil Baby : I'm sorry. Where are you so I can come get you? - 9:30 PM

- Library - 9:31 PM

I waited for a response, but received nothing. Sighing, I stopped working because he blew my concentration. Right when I was about to text him, he called and told me to meet him outside. Approaching the parking lot, his Camaro parked toward the back and he was leaning on the side. As I got closer, there was a worried look in his eyes along with bags under them as if he hadn't been to sleep.

"What is going on? I ain't heard from you, you been gone all day and you smell like a damn pound!" I ranted as the faint weed scent filled my nostrils.

"I need you to listen, alright? No extras, just listen, please," he pleaded, with a slight attitude. "My mother, she- it's something going on back home and I gotta make sure she's okay."

Instantly, a wave of guilt came over me, "Is she sick or something? When you leaving?"

He opened his mouth to speak, but instead let out a deep sigh and shook his head, "Man I don't know. Soon for sure, though."

"What are you gonna do about class?"

"I'll talk to my professors and hopefully they can work with me, but I can't just leave my moms at home unprotected."

My face frowned becaue this felt all too familiar. Too much like something Kash would say... "Unprotected from what?" I questioned, trying to bury my thoughts.

He walked closer to me, taking both my hands into his, "It's just family shit I gotta deal with. I don't need you worrying, alright?"

Studying his face, everything in me was questioning him, but I had no choice but to roll with it. There was no comparison between Kaine and Kash, but my gut was telling me otherwise. Guess you can say trust issues are a bitch.
