Meeting that Bastard...

I've been wandering on a fruitless journey for quite some time. It's been about two months since I left my home. I've been through a handful of strange villages and rice fields, all seemingly cracked under the pressure of the newfound strength of demon kind. All over, seemingly weak and inconsequential demons have grown suspiciously powerful. Luckily, I have yet to face any on my journey, but still... There's a certain anxiety in the air all around. I'm just glad that Okuda village has high walls and skilled warriors within them. I thought I would miss home more than I do, but even in this unfamiliar territory, all I can feel is free and eager to explore further.

The sun is setting over the tree tops and darkness is approaching. I stray off of the forest path and find a decent spot to camp for the night. I lay out my blanket and tie up the horse to a large tree. I close my eyes and dream about this 'Sesshomaru' guy, I bet he's an old warlord with a long beard, or an old fat monk with a drinking problem. I giggle to myself about the funny images of this stranger that my imagination has created. After a while, my eyelids become too heavy to reopen and I drift off into a full sleep.

A sudden and chilling scream echoes through the wood, jolting me awake. I begin to rub the sleep from my eyes and abruptly feel huge brute hands grabbing at my shoulder, pulling me backwards. I rip myself from their grip and spring upwards to see two large demons, one holding a small girl and the other killing my horse. I struggle to get to my feet and manage to hit the demon with the girl. He stumbles backwards and in an instant, while he is stunned, I grab my sacred swords from their sheath and prepare to strike them. But to my confusion, right when I had begun to raise my blade, a white flash came crashing down on the demon holding the girl. In a flash both demons were dead. The girl got up and ran to the man, hugging him tightly.

The man was tall and had the most beautiful, long, white hair.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" she called.

Wait, so this is Sesshomaru? He turned to face me, striking golden eyes with a blank expression. I was still struggling to process all that had just happened, but those eyes... He scans me up and down with an unimpressed look and turns away sharply. So he's a demon. I never saw that coming to be honest, why would mother want me to find a demon? I tune back into reality I see that he's walking away. I hesitated as I grabbed my sword's sheath, slinging the straps over my forearm. A thought of gathering the rest of my things flashed through my head. But what was the use? I had no food and nothing of true value besides my horse, who was very very dead now. I ran and caught up with him and the girl.

"Hey!" I called.

He ignored my words so I called again, this time a little agitated.

"Hey! I'm talking to you!"

"Go away human" he said coldly.

"You're Sesshomaru right? My mother said to find you, I'm out to kill a demon named Naraku." I said as I clumsily began to sheath my swords and fasten the sheaths to my torso.

"You're out to kill him too?" He said unconvinced, "Leave it be woman, you'll just be in the way"

"In the way? Excuse me but I think I can handle myself."

"Then you don't need me, perfect. Now for the last time, go away"

The nerve of this guy! I hate him already, how can he even help me anyways? Does my mother just want me to go gray early? This is NOT what I signed up for...

I followed him for a while until the sun began to set, when suddenly he stopped. A two headed beast saddled with a small demon on it's back landed in front of him. The girl jumped on the back of the beast and asked if she may go down to the river and bathe, with Sesshomaru's permission she left. It was just me and him. He turned to me and walked slightly closer.

"Who are you. I'm no idiot, I can tell you're not a regular human woman," His golden eyes narrowed.

"My name is (y/n) heir of the Okuda clan" I said proudly, trying to maintain my stature.

"Your relation to a weak band of humans is of no interest to me, how are you different from them?"

What an ass! Ugh...

"My father was a powerful storm god, Yamato... He was killed by Naraku and I'm out to avenge him."

"So that's what it was... Let me guess, you haven't even mastered your powers? That must be why you're still so pathetic and weak."

"Why are you so rude? You don't even know me??"

"Watch what you say, human. You should know your place in this matter."

"That's it!" With that I drew my swords and ran at him. He jumped gracefully out of the way. He came up right behind me and drew his weapon. I spun around, jumped up, and crossed my blades. As I tore my swords apart, a blast of lightning flew towards him and burst in his face. The smoke from the blast began to dissipate and I could see him about five feet further from me, on one knee. I could tell that my blast had done a little damage, but not much. He looked up and his eyes turned a fiery red. An animal-like growl simmered within him and I could feel waves of demonic power radiating from him. He got up on both feet, preparing to attack me when the young girl and small demon reappeared atop the saddled beast. He immediately calmed down when the girl called his name. He looked at me harshly and said to me,

"So you aren't completely  weak, but you are still only a human,"

I glared at him, not saying a word and not breaking eye contact. After a while of silence, a voice cut through and stole my attention. The girl had come over to me and asked for my name.

"My name? Uh- I'm (y/n), what might your name be?" I said with a smile I put on for the child. She was impossible to be angry around. Something about her was just completely disarming.

"My name's Rin, that's Jaken, and that's A-Un!" She said happily, as if there wasn't tension, thick enough to be cut, lingering in the air. I shot a glare back at Sesshomaru only to see that plain, cold, look on his face once again.

Rin and I began to make small talk and laugh. She really is a sweet girl.

Sesshomaru began to walk towards me, leaning in as he passed me. He got too close for comfort and whispered in my ear,

"Come with us if you so choose, but don't expect me to take care of a measly human like you..."

The sheer heat from breath on my neck made my blood boil...
