I ran to the back of the village, walked through the tunnel, went through the door, and presented myself in front of Lady Itsuji's mirror.
"Hello, Lady Itsuji?" I shout to the mirror.
"And who might you be?" The blank mirror says.
"It's (y/n) Okuda. Do you remember me?"
"Hello, I see that our being reunited occurred sooner than I had expected. What have you come back so soon for?" Lady Itsuji says as she appears within the mirror.
"When I left to find Naraku my mother told me to find someone named Sesshomaru, until yesterday I never knew why. She said that she didn't either, she only knew that he would make me strong enough to beat Naraku if I taught him something in return. You were the one who told her that."
"Yes, I do recall... What do you wish to know of this?"
"As much as possible, please..."
"As you wish, I can see how eager you are to learn the reasons behind your finding young Sesshomaru."
"Thank you."
"In order for you to become a god like your father, you must have some kind of life changing experience. I believe that defeating Naraku could be the key, an intense battle can release a surge of adrenaline and emotion that will trigger the ascension. But you need someone powerful to help you become strong enough. I originally intended on having one of my friends, Inu no Taisho, help you. But I soon learned that he had died, so I thought that maybe Sesshomaru could be the one to help you. But Sesshomaru is, as you may know, not very fond of humans. He thinks that they are weak and helpless, and while they may seem that way compared to him, it's not always the case. If you can teach him the true value of a human life, you will definitely find your strength along the way."
"But why is it so important that I ascend and become a god?"
"My soul has remained dormant within this mirror for generations, my power has let me live on in this form. Since I had only a human child I couldn't bless my her with my power because she couldn't have handled the demonic power. Until you were born I've had nowhere to transfer my power, you have the ability and strength to hold my demonic powers. But only if you become a god like your father."
"So in order to release you from the mirror, I must become a god?"
"Yes"
"So I need to find Sesshomaru and teach him the 'value of a human life' and defeat Naraku..." I look down at the ground and wonder as to where Sesshomaru may be.
"Yes, you must find Sesshomaru and show him that humans are to be protected and not eliminated."
This is just what I have been wanting to hear, finally someone wants me to go find him. But the village... What can I do about that?
"But I can't..." I say with my hopes dashed.
"Why not my dear?"
"I am to be wed to a village chief's son in the near future."
"Why not look for Sesshomaru after the wedding?"
"Once I am wed I will have to run the village and assume the duty of the chief's wife."
"I see... You must figure out what to do, assume the helpless position of the chief's wife, or go look for the one you love."
With her last words my head shot up and my eyes grow wider and wider in disbelief.
"W-what I don't love Sesshomaru, he's a demon and I-I'm a human. Plus he hates humans he could never love a human like me."
"You do love him, you were destined to love him, that's why you were meant to find him and not your sister."
"What? Sister? I don't have a sister."
"Oh my dear, but you do."
"No, I really I don't have a sister, my mother would have told me."
"Believe what you must, but it still stands that you must find Sesshomaru."
"Okay." I say set on finding him.
"Now go you are needed else where"
"Then that means this is goodbye for a while, huh?"
"I will see you when I see you next, but now you are needed."
"Okay, goodbye, Lady Itsuji."
"Goodbye child"
And with that I was gone and off to the village.
When I got to the village I saw a small crowd formed, made up mostly of guards. I walked up to the crowd and pushed my way through.
"Whats going on here?" I say looking to the people behind me.
Nothing was really said, but one of the guards had pointed behind me. I felt kind of dumb for not looking at what everyone was looking at first. But when I turned around I saw four men holding the reins of their horses gathered around someone. I couldn't see who, but he seemed important.
"What's all of this? Who are you people." I asked the men with horses.
"It's fine (y/n), there's no need to question them." my mother walks up behind me and puts her hand on my back.
"Who are they?" I whisper to her.
"They are the guards of the chief's son." She replies.
"Oh, so then the man they are guarding must be.... What's-his-face"
"His name is Toshi Ikeda and you should get his name engraved into your mind, he is your fiance."
"I know, I just feel like I'm doing the wrong thing."
"You're not. I'm your mother, if this was wrong I wouldn't let you do it." She says with a serious expression.
I look down in disappointment, I hoped she would realize that this is wrong. I know it is... I walk through the crowd and head back to my room. I've been in my room for an hour or two while mother has been talking to the guards. It's around 6:30 pm and I haven't left. My mother opens the door and stands in my doorway.
"What do you need?" I ask trying to sound happy.
"Nothing, I was just checking on you."
"Oh, well okay then."
"Well I see that you are fine, so I will just go to my study." she says as she begins to close the door.
"Wait."
She stops where she is and reopens the door.
"Yes?" she says.
"D-do I perchance, maybe, have a-a sister?"
Her face grows wide, but she tries to hide it.
"I wouldn't know what you are talking about."
"I know that you are lying, I can hear it in your voice and I can see it on your face. Now, mother tell me."
She lets out a heavy sigh and comes to sit beside me. She sits down and looks up at me.
"Y-yes you do, you have a-a sister." Tears build up in her eyes but never drop.
"Why didn't you t-tell me?? Why didn't father tell me?"
"Because, the daughter I had isn't your father's, y-you have a half sister." she says the tears finally streaming down her face.
"W-what.. Who... who is she?"
"I don't think you'd believe me if I told you." she chuckles a bit, trying to make light of a dark situation.
"Just tell me..."
"It- it's Sue..."
I feel like I'm going to explode, my stomach aches and my heart drops.
"Oh, my-" I cover my mouth and rush out of my room. How could she not tell me that my best friend was my half sister? What is even happening, my world is falling apart.
I run out to the stables to see What's-his-face talking to his horse. He looks over at me and starts to walk over to me.
Just what I need, someone I don't even know trying to talk to me after I just found out Sue is my sister.
