"I'm leaving" he says pulling away from me.
"Why?" I reply.
"You were injured, not me. I'm off to find Naraku and now that I know you aren't dead I can leave."
"Well you should stay, I want to see Rin." I say with a smile.
"No, this place is full of human stench, I wouldn't stoop so low as to stay here." He says as he flies away.
"Ass!" I yell to him as he's leaving.
Sue, Miss Machi, and my mother walk over with concerned looks on their faces.
"(y/n) who was that?" mother said.
"I-I thought you knew, it was Sesshomaru, the one you had told me to find." I reply.
"I see..." mother says turning and walking away. Sue and Miss Machi stand still in their place with their heads down. I bulldoze through the both of them as I begin to chase after my mother.
"Mother what is going on? You never even gave me the slightest clue as to why you wanted me to find Sesshomaru!" I say with a bit of anger in my voice.
She keeps walking and ignores me.
"Mother!" I demand her attention.
She continues to walk, so I follow. After about ten straight minutes of walking, we come to a cave. Caves are quite normal, seeing as we live directly at the foot of a moutain, but this one wasn't normal. I could feel a sickening warmth from the cave.
"Come in, this cave has the one thing you can't seem to find, Answers." Mother says.
I walk hesitantly into the cave. It's dark, but I can see a small light in the distance. After walking mindlessly down this narrow cave we've reached the end. Standing before us was an old wooden door. Mother slid the door open and signaled me to enter. I was hesitant, this whole time mother has been acting weird. I decided to trust mother, seeing as she is my mother. The door had led to a stair case that cascaded down the side of a wall. At the bottom of the stairs there was a torch, weakly burning in the dark. Once we passed that torch the whole place went ablaze for only a second, once the violent flames were gone we were left in a large room with what seemed to be a thousand candles. The army of candles surrounded a large shrine with a giant mirror in the center. Mother stood beside me, although she was a little bit behind me too. I looked back at her with a shocked expression.
"W-what the hell is this place?" I say, anger lacing my voice.
"I know you're scared, you always get like this when you're scared." Mother replies.
"That doesn't matter right now, the only comfort you can provide for me right now is telling me where I am and why you've been acting so weird."
"This is a tomb of sorts, a very special place."
"Who's tomb could be so special that you had to hide it away like this?"
"This room is Lady Itsuji's 'eternal resting place' even if..."
"Even if what?"
"Even if she isn't dead."
I say nothing and stand there slowly processing what my mother just said.
"So you are telling me that somewhere in here there is an old demon lady on the loose." I say stressed out from this insane 'news'.
With these words the candles surrounding the shrine roar upward in flames.
"So I've been remembered as a mere 'Old demon lady'? Time truly does not treat one's reputation well." A woman's voice came from the mirror loud and clear.
I spin around as fast as I can to see the image of a beautiful woman with long dark crimson hair in armor. Swords and other weapons adorn her figure. Her eyes glow a gentle gold, her beauty is undeniable, and the way she stands and holds herself is intimidating. A gut feeling says that there is a piece of her missing, but I wouldn't know what. Regardless of that I can still see why people would want to serve and follow her into battle.
"I-I'm sorry... Not at all you are still greatly respected throughout Japan." I say in an attempt to salvage her first impression of me.
"If you are unsure, yes, I am the Itsuji Okuda you have heard of. I have told you my name, it is only polite to return the favor." Lady Itsuji says.
"My name is (y/n) Okuda, daughter of Matsume Okuda." I reply.
"I see, so you are a part of my family... a decendent of my human child, Hiyori."
"Y-yes, she was a distant relative."
"You look like her, beautiful and sacred."
"Sacred?"
"Special, unique, and precious. Set apart from others, acompanied by few, but treasured by many."
Her words resonate within me and I know that somehow, someway I was her missing piece, and she knew it too. Mother stepped forwards interupting the moment me and Lady Itsuji were having.
"We must go, I am needed, Sue cannot lead the village all on her own." Mother says. She grabs my wrist and pulls me away from the mirror, up the stairs.
"Goodbye (y/n), until our next fateful conference." Lady Itsuji says as she fades from the suface of the mirror.
"Goodbye!" I say as mother dragged me through the doorway at the top of the stairs.
Mother shut the door behind us and let go of my wrist.
"Until our next conference..." I whispered to my self.
"Come we must get back. I have put Sue in charge, in all cases concerning your absence or mine." Mother says.
"Wait why Sue? Why not Miss Machi?" I say.
"Because... Miss Machi is very busy, and she is the only one with advaced medical knowledge."
"That makes sense. But I must ask about Lady Itsuji, you said that down here I would find answers. More specifically, answers concerning Sesshomaru..."
"I don't know why you needed to find him, but Lady Itsuji told me to send you after him. She said that on your journey you will meet meeting a man that can make you strong enough to defeat Naraku but only if you teach him something that no other can."
What could I ever teach Sesshomaru?
