"Hey, Erica. I can't come shopping on Sunday."

It was a free session and Erica and I were sunbaking on the grass outside class.

"Why not? I've been waiting for this, for like three weeks."

"I know. I'm so sorry but..."

"She's got a study session with me." Adrian's shadow fell over me.

"And Ambrose doesn't want me there." I grumbled rolling back into the sun.

"Why?" Adrian and Erica said together.

I shrugged

"Well I want to know." Erica sat up, her eyes filled with excitement. "For this one occasion we will get up early."

"We?" Adrian asked.

"Yeah, you won't let two damsels walk into unknown danger, will you?" Erica battered her eyelashes and Adrian snorted.

"It's just town Erica, not a dragons cave." I laughed.

"Well, I guess I have to come then,” groaned Adrian. "I'm curious too but you owe me."

"Sure, we'll buy you a cute skirt." I grinned.

"Too early." Adrian grunted.

"Too cold." I moaned.

"Exciting." squeaked Erica.

We were trudging down into town with the sea wind whipping our faces.

We arrived at the little coffee shop pink faced. I sighed happily as the warm coffee hit my empty stomach.

"Where do we start?" asked Adrian.

"Let's ask the locals what's up?" Erica giggled hopping up the steps to a baker. I followed slowly, turning around when Adrian didn't follow.

"Coming?"

"I'll ask people out here." He answered.

I glanced at the empty street and shrugged, "Whatever."

Inside Erica was already talking to the man behind the counter. He had a massive smile and was one of those people that made everyone smile just because he was smiling.

"Nothing's happening?"

"No." He laughed.

"Then why is the town so deserted?" I asked. "This towns normally up before dawn."

"It's fishing season everyone's at the docks... except the women, they use this time to rest."

"Oh, okay thanks anyway." Erica deflated like a balloon but answered brightly.

"Hey girls?" He called after us. "Have a gingerbread man... and could you tell your friend to stop fighting."

"What?!" I shrieked running outside to see Adrian wrestling a man wearing a long brown coat.

"What do you want?" Adrian growled.

"Nothing." snarled the other man.

"Why were you following us?"

"Adrian let him go." I yelped rushing towards them and almost getting punched in the nose.

"Get out of the way." growled Adrian as I stood facing him, the man behind me, nursing his blood nose, on the floor.

"Fuck off Adrian. You don't just go around picking fights."

"He was following us."

"Do you have any proof?"
