I woke up feeling extremely disorientated. I remembered the barn and then... the memories. I shuddered, peeling my heavy eyelids open.
The room was dimly lit the moonlight pooled at the end of the bed. It looked like a full moon.
'Just like when they found me.' I thought.
I reached for the glass of water on the table next to me, catching the end of the conversation just outside the door.
"Her memories are starting to scare her,” said Ambrose.
"Yes, I think you're right. I was hoping we weren't going to have to resort to this."
"So you have the medicine?"
"To make the memories stop? I do."
The glass shattered as it hit the floor but I could only stare in horror at the door as Ambrose and Derek rushed through.
"Megan." Ambrose said in relief.
"Medicine? Pills?" I whispered. "Why don't you want me to remember? I want to remember!"
"We know dear, the medicine will slow the process down." Derek tried soothing me.
"What if I don't want that? You have no idea what it's like!" My anger had driven me to my feet. "I don’t remember anything! For all I know my parents could be looking for me or they could be dead, I don't know! All I've got is a name, a piano and the life you've carefully constructed around me! Like if you moved too fast or said something wrong or did something, anything I didn't like I would shatter!"
Adrian stormed into the room. "You've got more then that!" He shouted back. "What if you're parents sent you away for a reason? Maybe someone was hunting them and they needed to send you away to keep you safe. Ever thought of that, huh? Megan?"
"Maybe, but I want to know! I want to know who the blonde and brown haired boy is!" I snapped my mouth shut, a tear gliding down my face.
"Who?"
Ambrose and Derek stood to the side and watched us. Derek with worry and Ambrose curiously. Adrian and I stood face to face across the room.
"At least you know what you've lost." I choked out.
"Sometimes it's better not knowing." He replied.
I sobbed loudly and sprinted out the door. Adrian's hand brushed my arm but he didn't stop me.
I ran past the school buildings, out the gate and down the road to the city centre. I had to get away! The wind whipped my hair behind me. My run quickly slowed and I fell to the ground at the side of the road. My legs not willing to take me any further as I gasped and cried

I stood up snivelling and wiped my face with my hands.
A young girl stood a little into the forest holding a balloon. Her blonde hair in two plaits, her face covered with a hood. I hoped she hadn't seen my pathetic crying. I opened my mouth to ask her if she was lost or needed help but she suddenly let go of her balloon and ran away.
"Hey!" I ran after her, pausing to jump and grab her balloon before it drifted out of reach. "Little girl!" I rushed through the trees following her until she abruptly stopped in a clearing only the size of a king sized bed.
"Here," I coaxed her, kneeling down. "This is your balloon, right?"
She looked up, her hood falling back. Her eyes were red, her face distorted to a look of hunger and pain. Vampire? She lashed out, her long nails clipping me just above my jawbone. I scrambled backwards, screamed and ran. Her high-pitched laughter followed me.
