It was an ordinary Thursday afternoon. Clara was walking home when something strange happened. A strange figure in a dark hood was walking up the sidewalk and ran into Clara.
"Oi, watch it would you." Clara remarked. The figure turned toward her and asked, "Are you Clara Sunheart?"
"Um, yes. Why would it matter?"
"Sunweaver located, must disintegrate!" A boy grabbed her hand and said, "RUN!"
They ran down Third Avenue. Then past the graveyard. They got to her house, went inside, and locked the door.
"What the hell was that thing?" she asked.
"A Retriever, sent to find you and disintegrate you into the dungeon of it's ship." the boy answered.
"OK, well thanks. My name is Clara, Clara Sunheart." she told him.
"Yes, I know who you are. I'm Gavin, Gavin Moonheart, or what those things may call me, the Moonbender." Gavin replied.
"Nice to meet you Gavin!" Clara said.
"You too, Clara." Gavin replied.
They stayed in the house for a while and Gavin explained why the Retriever called her the Sunweaver.
"There's a legend that talks about two magical beings, a Sunweaver and a Moonbender. The Sunweaver, that's you; is able to cast healing, blinding and trap spells. The Moonbender, me; can use illusion, shadow and tracking magic."
"Wait, what do you mean? Like, we have a special gift?" Clara asked.
"Yes. A gift like this only happens once every 100 years." Gavin replied.
He kept explaining when there was suddenly a knock at the door.
"OPEN UP! WE KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE SUNWEAVER!"
"Oh crap! They found me!" Clara yelled. Gavin noticed a small bug on her shoulder.
"A tracer. Dos menero, casteven, gosei shantora!!"Gavin chanted. "That was a disappearing spell." he told her.
"We have to get out of here!" Clara exclaimed.
"Use a blinding spell!" Gavin yelled over the noise.
"I don't know how." Clara replied. "Can you?"
"NO, only the Sunweaver can use blinding magic!" he said. "Did your mother have a spellbook?" he asked.
"I think so." she replied. She ran over to the trunk and pulled out the book. "I need a blinding spell." she told it.
It opened to a page and she chanted "Monte ru blindes!" A light as bright as the sun surrounded the house, but Clara and Gavin could see through it.
"OK, this is wierd." she said shocked.
"Come on, they're blinded so we can leave!" Gavin yelled. "Stay here." he whispered. "I'll cast a cloaking spell, Gonea coverta darke shadowes!"he chanted. Then a blanket of dark energy was thrown over them and they saw the Retriever.
"Go search the woods I'll search inside." he ordered.
"Dang it, he knows what we did." she said worried. The Retriever went upstairs and looked around.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are." he taunted, knowing exactly where they were. Clara remembered a spell her mother taught her before she died.
"Luminos Sunlito!" she yelled. The strong sunlight blinded the Retriever and Gavin casts a shadow spell.
"Shan gra arrowsa!" he yelled. The Retriever fell dead and disappeared altogether.
"That was close!" Clara exclaimed.
"Come on let's get out of here!" Gavin said. And together they ran off.
