The temperature of water that you wash your hair in plays a huge role in the health of your hair. I know when I was younger, I used to go in the shower and put the heat up as hot as I could stand it. This could honestly be the worst thing you could do to your hair.

Washing your hair with hot water could cause your hair to become excessively porous, frizzy, and dull. The hot temperature loosens the hairs on your scalp and causes it to fall out. It also decreases your hair's elasticity, which causes it to be prone to breakage.

On the other hand, it may be difficult to properly clean your hair in cold water.

Washing your hair with warm water and rinsing with cold is the key to this madness. Washing your hair with the warm water would cause the pores on your scalp to open up and would make it easier to properly removed sweat, grime, or dirt without causing damage to your hair. After you have rinsed out your cleanser and have already applied the conditioner to your hair, make sure to rinse it with cold water. The cold water will help to seal moisture, strengthen, and add shine to your hair. The only downside to this would be that it would make your hair appear more flat.

But there is an easy fix to that! Try air drying your hair with your head tipped upside down. This will create volume. You could also consider switching up your hair part. That will definitely give you your desired amount of volume.
