Chapter seven

Six days have passed. During that period the fever had played up, the pain had returned several times and the more often I tried, I could transform better. On the contrary, Shakey stayed by my side, but every time he casts his gaze outside through the window, I had this weird feeling. Sometimes when I see his serious face, I wonder if he thinks of what has happened. Everything from when he found me up till now. Especially the hard times. Maybe even his locked up memories of his youth. I have to admit that I do the same. I think about the beginning of my life. My still unsolved questions. Although, the more I put my mind on it, the more confused I get. I sit up on my bed again and focus. I close my eyes. I manage to feel the flow of energy deep within me. I need to grasp it, set it free. Every time I tried in those days, I failed, but today I'm more determined. I will, yes I can do it. I can nearly touch it. I'm so close to it. I wrap my fingers around it and pull it closer. The heat returns but it's in a good level. It doesn't hurt anymore. I'm in peace with myself. I've found my inner strength. A voice calls my name. I return to my consciousness. The first thing I see is Shakey gawking at me.

"Y-you did it!" He stutters joyously.

Did what? I want to open my mouth, but I quickly notice that I have a muzzle. I look down. My entire body has finally transformed. I achieved the ability to change into a werewolf on my own command. I have summoned the complete form and I'm in total control. I smile. My happiness is limitless! I regain my energy and lust to eat. The past few days I had only drunk a lot of water and eaten bit of meat, the only food I had longed for. I let go of the strength of the werewolf, but I sense that it's still with me. I smile and see that I'm back to myself. He quickly shifts his head away since I'm naked. I had taken off my clothes a few days ago because I didn't want to tear them apart if I would succeed. It feels great to be healthy again. I grab my outfit and put it back on.

"You must be hungry. I could prepare something." Shakey suggests, still facing the wall. I chuckle at the sight and tell him to turn around. He does so with a huge smile. He walks over to me and our arms entwine. There's no other place in the entire world I'd rather be than here right now.

"I'm happy that you're feeling alright. You did great, Jolyne."

Every word he says makes me relieved. I'm glad that I made it through. He's gently brushing my cheek before he puts his sweet lips on mine. After he breaks it, he plays with my hair. I smile. As time passes and after a few more passionate kisses, he takes my hand to lead me downstairs to the kitchen. I sit down on a chair while Shakey takes out pots and frying pans. I watch every gesture he makes. Tasty aromas spread through the room and fill my lungs. It smells better than what I once tried to create.

Jaël paces nervously around in her room. She has waited for days, but her patience is nearly over. She acknowledges that Tessa is busy with preparing, but being unable to know how the situation is makes it unbearable. She has already checked the watch countless of times. She ceases her pacing once the door of her room opens. Leonie only nods and Jaël immediately follows her friend through the corridors. They all look the same. Eventually, they reach a door and once they enter it, they can see a large crowd. Jaël drops her jaw and looks around. She never expected that Tessa's army would be this large, even though she knows that armies in the past were much bigger.

"I have to go, I'll see you again later." Leonie ensures with a wink while setting off. Jaël blinks her eyes in wonder, but remains on her spot. There are a lot of men around, mostly talking to each other, laughing and playfully hitting each other. She doesn't know why, but an uncomfortable feeling arises. If she hadn't followed Tessa, she would still be with Shakey and Jolyne to search for her brother. Why did she allow herself to fight a war above her brother? She sighs, remembering that she did it to find him faster. Then an idea hits her. What if he's around here, also preparing to fight? She gets on the tops of her toes to stretch herself out to search. She sees many muscular men, but not the one she's looking for. He should attract her attention by his reddish hair colour. She stops her action once the entire crowd starts clapping and cheering. She looks up to the stage where I see a serious Tessa firmly walking over to the microphone in the middle.
