"I swear. I will be on the fire escape when you come back," you promised. "Are you sure? I can call it off with Michelle," Peter said. "I'm sure, now go!" He nodded, grabbed his jacket, then headed out the door. You huffed, blowing excess hair out of your face before plopping down onto his bed. You groan before standing back up again, going to his window and hopping out onto his fire escape. You jumped from his to yours and climbed through your window to wait out Peter's arrival.

"(Y/N)? Are you in there, sweetheart?" your mother called. "Yeah, Mum. Come in!" Your mother walked in and sat on the end of the bed. "Did he end up going?" "Yeah, of course he did. He was asked out by the prettiest girl in school, who wouldn't go?" you respond, trying to disguise your sadness. "You okay?" she asked sincerely. "Yeah. I think. I dunno. Maybe?" She leaned forward and kissed your forehead, wrapping her arms around you. "He will come around. I have not seen another boy look so in love than when Peter looks at you." You sigh and look out your window into his room. You didn't notice your mum's absence until almost ten minutes after she left. You just kept staring at his window. Then your phone to check the time. Then back at his window once again.

Fifteen minutes after nine you saw Peter run up the steps to his apartment building. He wasn't supposed to be home until ten thirty. You slid out onto the fire escape and leaped over to his just as he opened his door. He clambered over to his window and got out onto the fire escape with you. He pulled you into his arms and didn't show signs of letting go. "Hey Bugboy, how was the date?" "She wasn't you," he whispered.

"She wasn't you. I tried. I tried to get over it and then Michelle asked me out and I was really surprised and I went but she wasn't you. She didn't understand or laugh at my chemical jokes, she kept talking about shoes. SHOES! I have no clue about shoes! What do you tell a girl when she asks you about shoes! And dresses?! I don't know. She wasn't you and it wasn't fun," he complained and rambled on.

He was shocked when you leaned forward and connected your lips with his. He didn't respond for a second but once he noticed what you were doing he reciprocated gently. "I'm glad she wasn't what you were looking for," you whispered against his lips.

"I found what I was looking for a long time ago," he mumbled back before kissing you again.
