There she was.

Walking into the cafeteria with his arm slung across her shoulders. She was laughing and although Peter couldn't quite hear it from where he sat, it was one of his favorite sounds. [Y/N] had one of those infectious laughs, the kind where everyone just instantly smiles if they hadn't already joined in. She could have just about anyone rolling on the ground with her humorous personality and that was one of Peter's favorites too.

She was so perfect and Peter could bet everything he had that she didn't even know it. He had gotten hooked on her months ago when they had partnered for a project in Chemistry. They became fast friends and despite her boyfriend not really liking the friendship, [Y/N] stood her ground and made time for him. Because her philosophy was "surround yourself with people who make you happy." And Peter was lucky enough to be one of those people and he could never thank his lucky stars enough to have been partnered with her instead of the heavy metal rocker dude that always looked like he was ready to stab someone.

It made him sick to his stomach to see her with [Boy's Name] because for once in this life, the kid actually treated her decent. Peter, of course, could treat [Y/N] way better but the guy wasn't terrible to her. And it made it even worse when he'd see a different kind of glow on her face when she was around [B/N]. Because then, it was harder to rationalize whether or not he should admit his feelings. Why would he ruin his friendship and take away her happiness for a feeling that might not even last.

Peter watched as she sat down her lunch at a nearby table near the vending machines. He could always tell when something was bothering [Y/N]. She had this crinkle in her forehead that wouldn't go away no matter how much she smiled and laughed. As he noticed her little crinkle, he wondered if [B/N] knew about it too. Peter was so lost in thought that he didn't even realize that she was standing right in front of him.

Snapping her fingers, she whistled. "Hello? Earth to Parker? You in there, kid?"

Peter's cheeks flushed from embarrassment. "Oh, uh, sorry, I, um, was just, I got lost in my train of thought."

[Y/N] giggled, shaking her head and taking a seat in front of him. "Huh, I didn't notice."

Peter made an 'ha ha' face towards her. Not appreciating her sarcasm but knowing that he couldn't fake being irritated either. "What's up?" He glanced down at her lunch, raising a brow, "You're sitting with me?"

"Yeah? Can I not sit with you?" [Y/N] asked suspiciously. She empty a fruit flavored powder into her water bottle and shook it. "Am I not allowed?"

"No, no, you can. I just thought, you know how [B/N] is. I figured you'd, I don't know, sit with your boyfriend?" Peter flickered a look over towards [B/N] who was too busy giving his best friend a noogie to really pay attention to where his girlfriend ran off to.

She followed his gaze and rolled her eyes. "How many times do I have to tell you, Parker, I don't care what [B/N] thinks." Popping a grape into her mouth, she shrugged. "Besides, they have a game across the city so the school's letting them leave early to avoid traffic in the metro. After they eat, all of them are leaving."

"Oh."

"Yup." [Y/N] took a bite of her wrap before she continued. "But, aside from not wanting to sit alone and providing you with company, I actually needed a favor."

Peter rose a brow, "Okay?"

She set down her wrap and inhaled deeply, the crinkle in her forehead getting a little more defined. "I'm about to flunk Pre-Calc...."

This was a shock, [Y/N] was incredibly smart. She was on her way to becoming their valedictorian when it was time for graduation. There's no way Peter heard her correctly. "You're what?!"

"Flunking, Parker. You know the synonym being failing. To be unsuccessful in achieving a goal. That goal being Pre-Calc, the class that you said was so easy." [Y/N] bit her lip, "I have stayed up the past three nights studying my ass off and I get a D on my test. A D." She covered her eyes with her hands, "Miss. Neville said if I don't pass my next test she's going to fail me for the entire semester."

Peter pressed his lips together, "I know what flunking means, [Y/N] but thank you for the literary lesson." He ran a hand through his hair, "I mean the class is easy but you have a really shitty teacher."

"Shitty is an understatement, Parker. Like you don't understand, we'll be on lesson twenty and then the next day she's jumped to lesson forty. What. About. The. Shit. In. Between. That." She groaned loudly enough for the tables around to look at them weirdly but [Y/N] didn't care.

"You said you needed a favor? What is it? I could let you borrow my notes, that could help."

"Read your chicken scratch all by myself? I don't think so. You're going to help me." [Y/N] reached over and grabbed Peter's hand and clutched it in hers. "Please? Pretty, pretty please? With a Star Wars marathon on top?"

He scoffed, "You couldn't sit through twenty minutes of Star Wars, [Y/N]. Even if your life depended it on it. It's amazing how you're not flunking other classes with your attention span."

She pouted, causing Peter's cheeks to turn slightly red. He hated when she did that. "Please, Peter. I'm desperate and at this point I'd sit through Star Wars and Lord of the Rings just for you to teach me everything to help me pass."

He eyed her carefully, she did seem desperate. "I don't know. You know I don't care to help you but [B/N]'s not going to appreciate the time you'll be spending with me to learn all of this. I don't even know where you're at and to get you to have a passing grade, it could easily be every day that we'd meet." Peter started to mentally calculate how many bones [B/N] could break in just a matter of seconds.

"I'll deal with him myself, Parker." [Y/N] said matter-of-factly. She leaned back in her chair with her hand extended outwards. "Who needs [B/N] when I've got you? Do we have a deal? You teach me Pre-Calc and I'll watch not one but two movie marathons with you when I pass."

Peter's heart skipped a beat at her comment. She had to have been joking right? Taking her hand in his, he nodded. "Deal."

"Yay! You're the best." Picking up her wrap, she took a huge bite.

Nodding and clearing his throat, he toyed with his pizza. "So, where are you at? You know the basics like remainder theorem and the intermediate number theorem right?"

The wrap fell slowly from her hands as she chewed at the same rate. "The what and huh, now?" Peter bit his lip while he closed his eyes. He was in for it and now that he thought about it, was two movie marathons worth the aggravation? Opening his eyes, he saw her smile. Yes. Yes it was. "Uh, duh, Parker. I'm believe I know those.Wait, um. Isn't that something with the polynomial function and f(x)=0 thingy?"

Peter sucked in air, shaking his head and letting it out slowly. "You might want to come over after school. I have a feeling I have my work cut out for me." Taking a bite of his pizza, he chuckled at her frown. "I promise I'll get you at least a high C."

Smiling, "Deal." Picking the lettuce from her wrap, she breathed out. "You know I like you when I skip a football game to study with you, Parker. My love isn't cheap."

Choking on his pizza, he rose a brow. "What?"

Plucking the lettuce in her mouth, she winked. "Nothing." And just like that the crinkle was gone.
