Katy, horrified, stared at Carter."You mean by hunting, right?"
Carter snapped awake."Oh! Yeah! I forgot!"
Katy and Carter chuckled for a second, though Carters face was flushed red. Katy gulped. He didn't actually mean it, right? Katy shook her head smiling. Of course not, his brain is as big as a flea!
"Alright, where do we go to find it, Carter?" Katy asked him, looking over at him, who was looking at a navigating tablet.
"Directions switched. It's now...at the candy store...?" Carter replied, confused.
"This is a joke," Katy growled, shuffling to Carter to look at the screen with him.
And as he said, there it was. A little envelope signal of it, at Marly's Candy store. Katy, disgusted, marched down the sidewalk to the corner to wait for the light to turn red.
"What is it?" Carter huffed as he caught up to Katy.
"We're going to the Candy store, apparently. So, lets get it done with," Katy pointed out trying to act all brave.
She was not. She was, or at least used to be, a normal citizen that wouldn't kick peoples butts and go nuts. She knew the law. She didn't learn the law to break it. But sometimes you haft to just give in for good, Katy forced herself to believe.
The light suddenly turned red, making a beeping sound to alert the citizens it's our turn to cross. Katy saw that Carter was already on the other side of the crosswalk. Katy sprinted across to carter to ask how did he cross so fast?
"You were waiting, I don't wait," Carter replied stubbornly.
Of course. Boys are always impatient. Katy walked with him a few more blocks down before seeing the colourful candy store, saying, Marly's Candy store. All of the walls were painted pink, with various kinds of candy. They walked in and looked around. Empty.
"HELLO?!" Katy called.
nothing.
"Are we seriously alone?" Carter gasped." This will be easier than I thought!"
Suddenly the door behind Katy and Carter locked tight and all the blinds fell, leaving the store lights on, though.
"Somebody's there!" Katy called again.
no response.
"Heeeellooooo! We're in your stoooore! Ha ha!" Katy teased loudly.
not a peep.
"I'm taking a candy and eating it without paaaaying!" Katy called, looking around the store while grabbing a lollipop from a tiny can.
"Quite amusing, my dear," A dark voice echoed around the store." But your never going to find me, or the letter,"
Katy smashed the unfinished lollipop onto the ground, which shattered into little fragments of the lollipop. Carter grabbed Katy's arm to pull her back. Katy growled and mumbled bad words to herself.
Shadows whispered and shuffled.
Suddenly a loud bang sounded around the room, making Katy and Carter shutter to the ground covering their ears. After healing from the loud bang, she peeked from out of the table to see Carters dad...
