They find a video of Person B from when they were a baby and completely die on the inside.
That's it.
Their soul has ascended into heaven, who told them that Person B needed protection? They can now die happy, with no regrets in life.
Bonus: the next time they see Person B, the video begins to play repeatedly in their head and they're internally fighting themselves to stop from screaming.
