Another au to pull at your heartstrings :
Achievement is extremely rare. Naturally talented people are even rarer. Whenever someone begins to get better at something, like drawing, it's like slowly taking away somebody else's ability to draw. Basically, when somebody starts to get good at something, they're basically sucking out the skill from another person, usually their soulmate.
Person A is naturally talented in drawing, and Person B soon grows to become jealous of their skill. So Person B begins to practice drawing over and over, never stopping. What they don't know, is that they're sucking out Person A's skill. They're soulmates, but only Person B hasn't realized it.
Person A soon realizes that their talent is worsening, as their drawings begin to look worse. They manage to pinpoint Person B to find out who was practicing so diligently, but when they see them working so hard, they can't say a word or hold a grudge.
Soon, it's as if the roles had complexly reversed. Person B becomes amazing at drawing, while Person A's skills match a bunch of scribbles. Person A is heartbroken at the lost of their talent, to no longer be able to draw beautiful scenery, but can't bear to tell B because they're so happy.
One day, Person B goes to A, unknowing of their skill loss, and goes, "hey, we should have a drawing contest!"
In comes a flurry of events of Person A slowly beginning to ignore Person B, who can only watch in confusion.
When finally finding out, Person B can only feel guilty and upset, their heart feeling too heavy to say anything else.
