Jack's POV:

Oh great. He's out cold again. I mean, I understand, I really do. If I turned into, say a human, I would be reacting the same way too. He wouldn't even have to deal with this if I just followed what I was supposed to. I should've just minded my own damn business and ignored him. Still, that's means Sam and I will have to wake him up.

"Sam?" I said. Sam turned around and looked at me. I had to admit, Sam looked focking precious all wrapped up in Marks red hair. It even looks like he made a little nest from it.

"Can you give Mark a shock? Just a little one, enough to wake him up? I would do it myself, but you saw what happened last time I used magic."  I said, embarrassed. I scratched the back of my forehead unconsciously, feeling the shame of the situation go to my cheeks. Sam nodded their head and gave me a you're-going-to-love-this look. I raised an eyebrow in return.

Sam started to nuzzle very fast into Mark's hair. The hair became staticky and started to lift up. Sam gave a final nuzzle which shocked Mark.

Mark shot up, a look of bewilderment and angry shock evident in his eyes. He looked up and saw Sam, who went back to relaxing in his hair-nest. He turned his head and saw me. I gave him as shy wave in response. I heard him mutter, "Oh god I wasn't dreaming..."

"I'm um sorry I fainted. I couldn't help it." Mark said after he collected himself, to Sam and I.

"No, no. It's ok." I replied kindly.

Mark looked over at his shredded clothes. He blushed and asked, "Am I naked?!"

"Yep! Like a babies bottom. We don't really wear what you humans call 'clothes', so your no different than everyone else."

"There's an 'everyone else'?!" Mark exclaimed.

"What, did you think, that I was the only one?" I joked.

"Kinda," Mark admitted. He paused, then hesisitentally said,  "I need to tell you something. I think you'll need to know this about me." This'll be interesting.

     "Ok, shoot. What is it?"

"I'm uh... deathlyafraidoftheocean." He said quickly. I saw the heat start to rise to his face. I felt immensely guilty. What a sucky situation I forced him into. At least he wasn't dead, right?

"Oh, God I'm so sorry. I'm afraid of heights, so I kind of know how you feel." I said pitifully.

There was a moment of awkward silence.

"Hey, do you know what time it is?" Mark asked out of nowhere. He reached his hands up and started to scratch Sam's head. Sam comfortably purred back.

What time is it? I looked up at the sun. It's around 8:45ish. Ma and Father wake up at around 10:00. We have to start getting home.

"It's about 8:45. Quick question, do you know how to swim with your tail? We have to start moving soon." I asked Mark.

"Moving? Where to?" Mark confused. "Why?"

"I need to get home before my parents wake up. I may or may not have snuck out." I replied, making an up-and-down gesture with my hands, accompanied with a shrug. There was a pause.

"I have literally no idea how to move anything other than my arms right now."

"I figured. I just want to give you a quick heads up, it's okay if you don't get it immediately."

"Well, I guess best to learn it now. I'll try my best," Mark flashed me a thumbs up and a silly wink. He's sure enthusiastic for someone who's scared of the water.

Marks POV:

I'm so not ready to humiliate myself in front of one of the coolest guys ever. Thankfully, I'm a quick learner. I think? At least my fake happy act is working on him. As far as I can tell atleast. Fuck I'm so screwed over.

"I'm ready for this. Let's do this!" I nodded toward Jack, being sure not to disturb Sam. Jack whistled for Sam to come to him, which he did. Once off my head, it felt weirdly lighter and emptier. Jack flashed a "thumbs up" back and began to explain.

"So what you want to do is move your hips, which will move your tail. It's similar to what humans refer to as "butterfly kick", I think. After you're at a constant paste, you can start moving your tail as well. That's the easy part. The fins on your tail are there to help you steer or move in a certain direction. The most difficult part is probably just learnin' to control them." I nodded, showing that I understood.

This would my first time off the floor. I am honestly terrified, but I won't show that to Jack. I'm stubborn when it comes to proving myself.

     I push myself into a sitting position. 3... 2.. 1..!

I pushed myself off the ground and started swaying my hips. I begin to slowly rise from the ground. After getting to a steady pace I started moving my tail too. Moving around was so weird! The tail felt like one leg, it felt very unnatural, considering I had two only a couple hours ago.

I was able to swim in one place and I was honestly impressed with myself. I flashed Jack a smile. He returned one and I felt somewhat proud that I could make Jack happy

"You look cute when you're happy," Jack blurted. It took him a second to process what he said. He quickly covered his mouth with his hands and stared at me shockingly.

"T-thanks?" I replied back, not really sure how to respond. I nervously chuckled and floofed up the top part of my hair by habit, accidentally brushing over my gills. I'd still have to get used to that.

"No pr-problem," He muttered, his face looking down embarrassedly. Jack looked up at me again and shyly said, "Can you try swimming towards me?"

     "I can try."

I started to swim cautiously to him and Sam. After passing only a few feet, my fins twisted. I gave a yelp as I suddenly did a 360. Out of instinct, I put my arms out to try to help steady myself and waved them to help maintain balance. I tried to swim forward again, but once again my fins went a completely different direction. I ended up doing a somersault and fell back a few feet.

I dared to take a glance at Jack and Sam. They both looked like they were trying not to laugh. Isn't this wonderful! I sent them a playful glare with my cheeks puffed up. This made them full out laugh. I started to as well, after all, who couldn't with Jack's contagious laugh?

After a few attempts, I was finally able to make it to them. Once I did, Sam rushed back into my hair, which he made a nest out of.

"Nice job! You're a fast learner!" Jack grinned and high-fived me.

"Thanks. Not going to lie, this feels so... off. It's a super weird feeling. But somehow I still managed to do it!" I said, feeling quite accomplished. I was going to floof up my hair, but Sam pushed my hand back. I forgot he was there, whoops.

"If you're ready then we should start moving!" Jack said happily.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go!"
