"We're here!" I shouted.
"Woah..."Mark's POV:
I stared at the building in wonder. The diner looked the definition of a perfect family restaurant. It was a little bigger than clothes shop and it had a rustic vibe. The building had the name, Brisky's Diner, in illuminated cursive. The words glowed a baby blue. It was weird how this made me awestruck. Short, sweet, to the point. It didn't try to be what it wasn't.
Honestly, it looked better than most of the places I've seen on the surface. Sure as hell better then some shitty German zombie-infested Taco Bell.
Jack gasped loudly, pulling me out of my thoughts. I quickly turned towards him.
"What? What happened? Are you ok?!" I frantically asked. Jack looked at me as if I had two heads. Sam and Tiny Box Tim were staring at my face. Jack tried to calm himself down, which slowly began working.
"What? Do I have something in my teeth or something?" I said, knowing full well that wasn't the case. Jack took a couple deep breaths.
"Your... Eyes!" Jack finally spat out.
"My eyes? What about them?" I questioned with a slight bit a sarcasm, suspecting that it might be a prank or a 'Got you'! sort of thing.
"They changed color! They're like an amber now! Just like how mine were green! That's so cool!" Jack exclaimed. He sounded genuine, or he's a really great liar.
I swam up to the window of the diner. I looked at my reflection and saw that my eyes were, indeed, amber. I blinked a couple times, just to be sure. They began to slowly fade into their normal color, like how your eyes dilate when you look at them in a mirror. I watched as my eyes slowly began to become to their normal brown. That's so amazing!
"Well that was interesting." I commented, not fully understanding the cause, and swam back to Jack.
"Yeah." Jack replied. "...Don't I remember someone saying they'll die from starvation?"
"That... would be me. Better get some food inside of us then!" I happily said. Sam went over to me and placed Tim back on my head. I gave Sam a quick scratch. "Thanks." Sam bowed, then swam back to Jack. He swam into his hair, looking quite contented.
We swam inside, Jack going in front of me. The diner looked like 50s themed ice cream shoppe. You know, the typical checkered floor, red booths, the jukebox. Said jukebox was blaring, weirdly enough, some classic Elvis, which made me wonder how they even found the music in the first place. Probably some trash that sunk down or something. People do throw away some weird stuff.
He seemed to know exactly where to go. Jack swam down the booths, until he got to one tucked away in the corner with two mermen. He casually slid in to the unoccupied booth and I sat next to him. There were four menus already on the table.
The first merman had a light blue theme. He had mostly blonde hair, and the middle was slightly tinted blue. You probably wouldn't notice it from a distance. The merman had some facial hair, like an goatee. He had blue eyes as well. Basically, he looked like an artist who accidentally dropped their blue color palette.
The second merman was a little more interesting. He had an albino tail and short brunette hair. That wasn't the strangest part about him though. On his face was a giant white shell, with three holes. One large hole for his mouth and two tiny holes for his eyes. Despite his color, his skin somehow looked like it sad a good suntan for a couple hours. They were both quite the character.
