LAUREN'S POV
I nervously glanced at my phone for the hundredth time to see if anything had changed since the last time I checked it not even thirty seconds ago. We had a day off so I practically had to beg Y/N to come meet me at a small cafe in the middle of a random city. Eventually she agreed but as of now I wasn't sure on if she was going to show up or not. My eyes always strayed towards the door several times in hopes of catching her as she walked in but I wasn't successful until this very last time, about fifteen minutes past the time we agreed to meet at. I stood up from the booth as Y/N met my gaze from the front of the cafe. When she got close enough I quickly wrapped my arms around her broad shoulders in a hug, her hands coming to rest on my hips. "Thank you for coming." I quietly thanked her. Y/N nodded her head once and the two of us sat across from each other in the booth. "I ordered you something if that's okay."
"No that's fine." Y/N spoke quietly as she looked out of the window next to us. I took the opportunity to observe her side profile from our somewhat close proximity. It was crazy to see that in four years how much her face actually changed, it became less rounded and more chiseled, all aspects of her baby face were gone. Y/N's hair became slightly darker, but signs of highlights stood out in the light of the early morning. Suddenly Y/N looked back at me but I couldn't find it in myself to look away from her mesmerizing eyes. The same eyes I loved to stare in when we were together. "What did you want to talk about?" All of the sudden Y/N spoke up breaking the silence between the two of us. I stuttered over my words but I was thankful when the server brought us our drinks before leaving abruptly. After she left I grabbed my cup and wrapped my hands around it as Y/N took a sip of hers, her eyes still peering into mine as she drank. I couldn't help but stare at her lips when she lowered her cup. When I realized I was staring for too long I switched my graze from her mouth to the table where I tried to gather my incoherent thoughts.
"I'm actually not sure." I nervously laughed but Y/N's face remained emotionless. "I was just hoping to see how you were doing these past four years." I lowered my voice. Y/N took a deep breath and I thought she was going to start talking but instead she looked back out of the window beside us. Knowing the younger girl though if you didn't give her a specific topic to talk about she'd remain silent. I wracked my brain to give her a topic but I came up with nothing, leaving us in silence once more. I stared at my coffee in defeat when the silence between us was starting to become awkward. I was about to give up when I heard Y/N adjust herself in her seat, her head now turned towards me as her jaw was slightly clenched.
"How are the other girls?" She asked and I perked up at the mention of my bandmates. Y/N scratched the side of her neck and it wasn't until then that I noticed she had gotten small, almost invisible tattoos along her hand. She moved her hand too quickly for me to see what they were actually of but I didn't want to press her about the subject knowing I wasn't really in the right place to do so. Honestly all I wanted to do was grab her hand not only to look at her tattoos but also just to feel her skin against mine again, I missed nothing more than simple body contact with the taller girl.
"They're good." I started off. "For the most part we're good, awesome even. We've just been traveling the world and performing, we really don't have much time to do anything else. I mean it was hard for a while but we managed." The whole Camila thing was still a sore subject for all of us but the girls and I had managed to take advantage of the situation for a new start for us. I was thankful for the new opportunities it gave us let alone losing a band member. There were always mixed feelings about her leaving but for the most part I tried not to think about it. When I tuned back into the now I saw Y/N nod her head several times before she looked down at the cup in her hands which was already half gone. I waited for her because by the look in her face I knew she had something on her mind. Her Y/E/C eyes met mine and for once I could decipher some sympathy in them, letting me know there was still at least some emotions running around in her body.
