Love and Basketball (Lauren/You)

Chapter 9

LAUREN'S POV

The next morning I woke up to an empty bed. I didn't fret too much because I could hear Y/N shuffling around in the kitchen. I stretched my sore body on the bed and smiled to myself when I felt my muscles relax. When I was able to finally get up, I grabbed one of Y/N's shirts from her drawer and slipped it over myself. I slowly made my way out into the living room where I could see Y/N preparing breakfast in the kitchen. The TV was playing softly in the background but I hadn't known what was on. I wrapped my arms around Y/N's waist when I reached her and laid my head on her back.

The taller girl turned around in my arms so I pulled back with a smile on my face but I wasn't prepared to meet the stone cold look I received from her. "Are you okay?" I asked quietly, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Y/N rolled her eyes and slipped from my grasp to find her phone. After a couple seconds of scrolling, she slid the phone over to me on the counter as she crossed her arms over her chest. I grabbed the phone and looked to see that someone had managed to take a picture of me and Ty when I was trying to leave last night.

"I had to wake up to that bullshit." Y/N started. "It didn't feel great to know that's what's going on behind my back." I placed the phone on the counter as I prepared myself for the argument I knew we were about to have. Even now I was angry that something about Ty always had to ruin my time with Y/N when we barely even manage to be able to have time for just the two of us alone.

"Y/N nothing is going on behind your back." I defended myself. "You think that even after everything that's happened, I would do that to you?" The taller girl sighed at my words and dropped her head so that she was looking at the ground. "I don't know if you've gotten the message yet, but I'm in fucking love with you. I don't know how else I'm supposed to prove it to you. I was trying to leave to get here and he came up to me. I don't know why he was there and I really don't care. All I care about is you." I stepped forward to pull Y/N into another hug and this time she allowed it to happen.

"I'm sorry. I'm just so paranoid about everything." The taller girl muttered into my hair as her arms slowly came to wrap around my shoulders. With her broad arms circled around me, I felt safe and loved. I even felt incredibly small compared to the bigger girl especially with how fit she was. "Plus, I'm going to be jealous of anyone that gets to spend more time with you than I do." Her voice lowered in volume as she spoke due to our close proximity. I couldn't help but smile at the truthfulness in her voice. Usually it would take her forever to finally admit something to me but now she was doing it no problem. Well there might have been some problems that were out of our control but that's besides the point.

"You don't have to worry about anything, okay? My heart belongs to you and nothing is going to change that. I've been in love with you since before you even knew I existed, there's nothing that can take that away. I'm here to stay by your side regardless of what we go through." I spoke. I buried my face deeper in her neck to inhale the scent of her body spray. "No one will take me away from you. Not Greg, not Ty, not anyone." I reiterated as if I hadn't made my point clear enough already. Y/N ended up nodding against my head until it was silent between us. After several minutes of standing in one another's embrace, I felt Y/N slightly turn her head to look behind her.

"I made you some breakfast if you want." She muttered quietly. A smile spread over my face and I slightly pulled away so that I could meet the Y/E/C eyes I fell in love with so long ago. "What?" Her own subconscious smile took over her face when I hadn't said anything. I shook my head as I could see a hint of a blush forming on the taller girl's cheeks. I stroked the redness softly and placed a light kiss on her cheek before I went to serve myself the breakfast she had prepared. Knowing Y/N, I could tell that when she hadn't moved from her spot, her blush only grew a deeper shade than it already had been.
