Depression feels as if you're underwater,
as though you've fallen into a river.
A river with a strong current.
The water is cold and deep.
The coldness envelopes you and takes you under.
The current just keeps trying to drown you no matter how hard you try.
The more you struggle, the more tired you get, and the more you start to accept it.
Accept that this is your fate, and fighting it does nothing.
But then, you get ahold of a rock.
You hold onto this rock for some time and just float.
You feel as if everything may finally be okay.
You can finally breathe again.
You can finally laugh at the past and look back at it.
You feel as though all is right again.
-
But that one strong current just pulls you back in.
And you're left coughing, lungs filled with water, and your body feeling numb.
It all comes crashing down.
The progress.
The temporary high.
You're left with your lungs filled with water and your head feels as if it's going to explode.
The coldness engulfs you and you let it in.
You let the blue water be the last thing you see. You've given up.
And then darkness.
Darkness is all you see.
Somehow you're at peace. You finally gave in and it can finally
all
be
over.
-
No more struggles.
No more pain.
The only thing keeping you company; The River.
