Rakuzan High is a prestigious school in Kyoto, only attended by the best.

By orders of my mother, I, Cho Andou, was forced to attend Rakuzan High. I couldn't refuse even if I had wanted to since no less was expected in my family, and not to mention I had no voice amongst them, I can only accept what is given to me quietly without making unnecessary demands.

I sighed, looking up at the entrance gate. I can either enter now and be just in time for classes or laze around and be late on my first day. If I went with the second choice, I'd be in for a long scolding from my mother, and I didn't want that. She wasn't exactly gentle after all...

Spacious, was one of the many words that came to mind as I entered the school and took in my surroundings. No visible flaws, excellent facilities, and neat classrooms. What more could a school need? Kind people... It was my first day, but others were probably here before me, so that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be kind to me. But I wasn't in the mood to interact with anyone either.

The classroom I'd been assigned to was pretty well organized despite having more than 20 students. I quickly sat down on an empty seat and took out my things as soon as the first lesson of the day started.

While I may have given off the image of a 'model student' that was only a front to keep myself from unneeded trouble. If, by any chance, someone were to hit a nerve on my side, I wouldn't mind in the least to show them a thing or two-however that risked mother finding out about it, and I really don't need any more burdens.

***

Time really flies by; it was already lunch break in a blink of an eye. Some girls in my class had invited me to join them for lunch but I kindly brushed them off. I wasn't hungry nor did I want to interact with them. I decided to explore the rest of the school since I hadn't gotten the chance to do so since I ran the risk of being late this morning.

I walked around aimlessly before noticing some people-seniors-picking on their junior. I was going to walk ahead and pretend I saw nothing but my 'great sense of justice' couldn't let such an unfair scene slide by unpunished.

"Hey you guys!" I yelled as loud as I could, alerting them.

The scariest and biggest of the bunch approached me, his already naturally narrowed eyes growing even narrower than before. "Wha' d'ya want chipmunk?" I was not intimidated by his appearance in the least. Rather, I was madder at the fact of being called a 'chipmunk'.

"I want you man up and stop picking on your juniors." I had intended to settle things peacefully and avoid any possible trouble, but my fuse ran short, causing me to do the exact opposite.

He frowned at my rudeness, and lunged himself at me, grabbing my collar. "I don't care whether you're a woman or whatever; you're beginning to piss me off."

I stared at him blandly before spitting out: "Well, what do you know...You can actually speak normally."

His frown grew heavier than before as he raised a fist that was about to land on my face but I quickly freed myself from his grasp by kicking his stomach. I had been raised to be excellent in all areas, that included fighting of course-after begging my mother that is, with the excuse that it was 'self defense' she finally agreed despite only wanting me to be excellent in feminine tasks-but I wasn't exactly perfect either, given my personality and stamina which was already gone by the time I had handled them all.

"How can you do something like this?!" I heard a low voice yell and immediately turned around, only to meet a completely furious teacher...

"They were picking on that junior over there..." I explain as I turn around and point at the place the so called victim should've been, but they'd already fled the scene. "Eh...?"

"Not anymore of your excuses!" He yells, furious. 'Not anymore of your excuses' he says, but I've only given one, and it wasn't even an excuse at that! "You're to go to the student council room immediately!" Huh...? Normally people would send you to the principal, wouldn't they...? "And learn some proper manners while you're at it!"

He stomped away leaving me irritated. This annoying one-sided teacher, only believing what he sees, I fail to see how he became a teacher. Well, whatever. I should probably head over to the student council room, though no one would probably find out if I didn't.

***

"You may enter." A luring yet husky voice permitted as soon as I knocked on the student council room's door.

"Excuse my--"I entered, looking down before slowly looking up and freezing in place. A boy with heterochromatic eyes and distinct red hair sat there, his foreign eyes feeling like they were piercing holes through me. "--intrusion..."

Neither of us said a word beyond formalities, making me unsure what to feel. Intimidated? Sorry? These were two things that ran through my head, but failed to feel.

"Shall I discipline you?"

"Pardon?" I blinked in surprise at his unexpected words.

"Not only did you handle your seniors in a rude manner, you dared to talk back to your teacher." He accused baselessly.

"B-but, they were picking on a junior! They deserved it!" I suddenly felt angry. This person, who knew absolutely nothing, who wasn't even there to witness the scene, was suddenly accusing me without any solid proof...Anyone would be angry...

"Had they been at fault, the scene you caused proved otherwise." He looked at me, unimpressed before continuing. "Before trying to act like a hero of justice, consider the casualties."

The way he lectured reminded me of my mother, leaving me furious and at a loss for words. This so called student council president was clearly stepping over his boundaries whether he knew it or not, and it was insulting. He was trying to put me in my place, adding to my fury. I absolutely detested it when people, aside from my family, tried to dominate me.

"No one..." I began with a hiss, catching his attention. "No one can dominate me." Despite the threat in my voice, I felt more like a tiny animal desperately trying to protect its territory.

He smirked, his heterochromatic eyes widening in sudden interest.

"Interesting. Then, if I am able to tame a rowdy creature such as you, what shall I obtain as a reward?" His proposal left me intrigued. However he was not treating me as if I were on the same level as him, let alone a human being. It felt more like the treatment you'd give a thing-an interesting game-that had fallen within his fearful grasp.

I backed away, slightly intimidated before letting out an arrogant laugh and pointing at myself. "A loyal pet or underling." I was confident to say in the least. Confident I wasn't going to lose, not to him, not to anyone.

The president did not answer my offer; he simply gave a nod of dismissal and approval.

I was mad at being treated in such a rude manner, but unconsciously followed his order. It was the first time I'd met someone such as him, but I could tell from how he is now, that we wouldn't get along in the future. I had a slightly tingly feeling that I'd end up regretting the bet I'd made later, but that didn't matter now anyway. All that mattered was to win it...
