It was an early morning for the king and queen of China. Marinette Agreste awoke to the sound of a loud crash somewhere near the palace. Expecting it to just be another akuma, she woke her husband, Adrien Agreste, as quickly as she was able. ”What is it?” Adrien slowly came to.

“I’m not sure. I heard a loud noise and woke up. It has been silent ever since.” Marinette got up and quickly got dressed into a pink traditional Chinese dress with gold designs. “Alright. If it was loud enough to wake you up, we can go see what it was.” Adrien slowly rose from the large bed.

Marinette paced around the room as Adrien dressed. I know it could have been something as simple as Emma knocking something over, but it also could have been an akuma, or something even worse. Marinette became anxious as she continued to pace.“Relax, Mari.” Adrien set a hand on his wife’s shoulder, making her pacing come to a short stop.

They searched the whole palace, finding nothing. As they found their way back to their bedroom, they heard voices coming from their daughter’s bedroom. In panic, they burst open the door to find a failed assassination on their daughter, Emma.

Rushing her out of the room, they quickly sent Emma to the airport with their most trusted butler, Logan, who would take Emma to Paris to stay with Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng until everything in China calmed down.

One moment I am sleeping and the next I am awoken by three men in all black attempting to kill me with simple weapons such as knives and a sword. I cannot believe they to use such dull and uncreative ways to attempt to kill me. I thought as I stared out the window of the plane. Sighing, I stood up and stretched.

“Miss, you should rest. This will be a very long flight and you must be rather shaken after what has happened.” Logan looked over at me. “Thank you for the concern, but I am quite alright, Logan.” I smiled faintly as I sat back down. The rest of the flight was spent in silence while I let myself drown in my own thoughts.

-The Next Morning-

Waking up early, I sighed as I looked around the small room that once belonged to my mother. I guess I am supposed to start a public education today, but I will be within the advanced classes due to my high education at home. I thought as I got up and dressed in a grey floor length dress and flats that Sabine had bought me yesterday.

I picked up what would be my bag to carry my books in and walked downstairs. “Good morning.” Sabine smiled in the kitchen. “Good morning, Mrs. Cheng.” I forced a smile. “Oh, Emma, you won’t be going by your real name while you are here. You will be going by Josephine and you can’t tell anyone that you are a princess.” Sabine looked at me sternly.

“Yes, ma’am.” I looked at her. “Good. Now, get off to school. You don’t want to be late for your first day.” Sabine smiled. I just nodded and walked out of the bakery. So this is the school where mother and father met. I looked at the large building. Stepping inside, I quickly found the principle’s office, ignoring all of the gaping stares from everyone else.

I had no intention of making friends while I was here. I was only placed here because someone attempted to kill me. “Come in, Miss...Sanders.” The principle smiled. “Good morning, sir. I am here for my studies.” I stepped into the open office. “So formal and polite. Here you are. I hope you find all of your classes.” He smiled. “Thank you, sir.” I bowed slightly and exited the room.

It wasn’t long before I found class. Walking in, all eyes fell on me once again. “You must be our new student from China, Josephine Sanders.” The professor smiled. She seemed rather young and slim. She had a fair complexion, green eyes, and red hair. “Yes, ma’am.” I looked down at the floor. “Well, come on in and tell us a bit about yourself.” She motioned for me to walk over.

“Yes, ma’am. Uh...my name is Josephine Sanders and I have recently moved here to stay with a relative as ordered by my mother.” I tried to remain as calm as I possibly could. “Do you have any hobbies?” A blonde girl asked. She was wearing all pink and she seemed kind of shy. “Yes, I rather enjoy painting as well as designing.” I faked a smile.

“Alright Josephine, take a seat in the front next to Alex. He will catch you up on everything. That being said, you all have a free period today.” The professor motioned over to a boy with dark hair and light hazel eyes. Taking my seat, I tried to avoid eye contact as well as I could.

“Hey, I’m Alex Lahiffe.” He stuck his hand out. “Hello, Alex.” I bowed my head slightly. “I guess they do their greetings in China differently than France.” Alex let out a sigh. “Yes, we do.” I glanced at him quickly. “Wait, so if you are from China, how are you able to speak fluent French?” A puzzled look crossed his features. “My mother insisted that learn as many languages as able.” I smiled.

-After School-

“Hey, Josephine!” I heard a voice call out as I began to walk out of the school. Turning around, I witness Alex running after me. “Good afternoon, Alex. How may I be of service?” I instantly stopped walking. “You're funny. Would you mind if I come over to your place to work on our project?” Alex was dreadfully out of breath.

“I would not mind.” I smiled. “Great.” He smiled and nodded. I resumed my walk back to the bakery, making a mental note to be careful around Alex. “Um….is it alright if I give you a nickname? Josephine is a really long name.” Alex almost tripped as he spoke. “That is fine.” I never fully looked at him.
