Emma’s P.O.V.
Even though Alex’s parents know who I am, they aren’t treating me any different. I smiled to myself. As a loud crash snapped me from my thoughts, I began to panic a little. “Mom, dad, Alex?!” I shouted as the power went out, leaving me in total darkness. “Emma, there’s an akuma down the street using electricity from the houses and power lines to strengthen itself.” Tikki flew out of my purse.

“Then we need to act fast. Tikki, spots on.” I kept my voice as quiet as I possibly could in case anyone was still near me. The bright pink light surrounded my body as I transformed into my alter ego. Even after all this time, I’m still not used to the feeling of transforming. I tried to find my way around the house to find a way out. “Crap...I can’t see a thing in here.” I muttered angrily to myself.

“Do I hear my bug in the middle of a cat-astrophe?” I heard one of Chat’s horrible puns ring through the air. “Purr-haps you could help meow-t instead of making your claw-ful puns?” I half snarled back at him. “Meow-ch, M’lady.” His blue/green eyes glowed in the dark. “I am sorry, Chat. I didn’t mean to hurt mew.” I grinned. “Oh come on. I’m supposed to be the one with all the puns!” His tone said it all.

“Well, I guess you shouldn’t bug a lady then.” I knew his weak spot. Turning his puns against him was the funniest thing I’ve ever done. “Ugh...you win. Let’s get this over with and defeat this akuma.” He quickly grabbed my hand and ran out the door that I didn’t realize was there.

I guess when you don’t have night vision, things can be a lot more difficult when dealing with an akuma that likes electricity as its food source. “I take it the akuma has gotten pretty powerful by this point. It has taken out most of the power in the city.” I looked at Chat once we were safely outside. “I would imagine.” He sounded upset and I couldn’t tell if it was because of the akuma or me.

-After defeating the akuma-

“Good work, Chat.” I smiled as we sat down on a nearby park bench. “Yeah...thanks…” Chat sighed quietly. “What’s wrong, kitten?” I looked at him closely. “It’s just that whenever we are in this form, you act so different with me.” His voice became even softer than it already was. “I’m sorry, it’s just...I’m still trying to get used to it. It’s still a little odd for me.” I let out a sigh of my own.

“I know it’s a big change, but we have to push past that. We are who we are and we are what we are.” He took one of my hands in his as I transformed back into my civilian form. “I know, but it’s going to take a while for me to get used to it.” I looked away. “Baby, please look at me…I want to be able to talk to you face to face.” Chat’s voice was pleading in tone.

Not wanting to, I turned my whole body away from him. “Bugaboo, please. I just want to talk to you.” He tried to turn me back around, but I refused. “I’m sorry, but I sh-” I was cut off by my cell phone ringing. It was my mother. Picking it up, I quickly found a place where I figured he wouldn’t be able to hear me.

“M-Mother. This is a pleasant yet unexpected surprise from you.” I answered her call third ring. “Yes, I am aware that it has been a while since I last contacted you, but it is time for you to come home.” Her voice was calm and warm as it always has been. “As you wish Mother. However, I do have one request.” I glanced back in Alex’s direction.

“What is your request, Emma?” I could almost hear the hesitation in her voice. “May I bring one of my...uh...friends with me on my journey home?” I wasn’t sure how she would take me being engaged, so I left that for a later date. “Of course you may. We shall be waiting for you. I shall send a private jet to collect you and your friend.” She promptly hung up and left me in shock.

Walking back over to Alex, I dreaded him finding out. Will he treat me different after he finds out? Will he leave me after this? Is he the one that I fell in love with but I am not permitted to marry? Will this all end in one large scandal? Thoughts and questions raced through my mind as I sat down on the bench next to him once again.
