A/N:I'm sorry, I haven't had much practice with Amy, so she may be very out of character and 11 may be a bit OOC too. :/ I'll try to fix this as I go along. Hope you enjoy this chapter. Please vote and comment! Written: 2014-04-04
The Doctor smiled at Amy, "You'll love this place!" he exclaimed, straightening his bow tie.
"That what you said last time, Doctor," Amy frowned. The Doctor pushed a lever home and then stepped back from the console as the TARDIS landed with a THUD!
"But this time isn't last time.... unless you want this time to be last time," the Doctor grinned at his random analysis of time travel, "which we can't do anyways because of paradoxes."
Amy just stared at him, a bit confused. She paused before saying, "Well, come on. Where's this place that you wanted to show me?"
"Go ahead, look around." he waited while Amy opened the door and looked around.
She turned back to him, annoyed, "Doctor, this doesn't look like a carnival."
The Doctor came forward a bit, opening the other door to have a look around himself, "Perhaps we came too early?" he tried. He tasted the air, "Yeah. A few years early, I'd say. I think they're in the Jexoclonal galaxy at the moment. Try again, shall we?" He was about to go back into the TARDIS when he saw a flash of colour.
"Hello." the Doctor murmered. He stepped out of the Police Box. He heard a suddenly familiar voice.
"You told me you'd come back for--" an angry female voice yelled. The Doctor's breath caught as he saw Grace, who immediatly stopped her rant.
"Grace?" the Doctor's voice was barely a whisper, but even so, it was a surprised whisper.
The brunette looked in the man in the bow tie, "Yes. And who are you?" Her anger was replaced by confusion and if not a bit of curiousity.
"The Doctor." he smiled.
"You're not the Doctor."
"Yes, I am. Remember, I changed from the man you performed surgery on."
Grace blinked. He was right. She had performed on a short man in his mid-forties who had died, yet the same night she met a man with reddish-brown hair with a probe stuck in his heart--well, one of them anyways. It had been the same probe that had gotten lost in the John Doe who had been killed in surgery. That man, the Doctor, had changed his body.
"Prove it." she had to have proof again. She had barely believe the Seer when that weird woman had told her about her own life. There was still a small part of Grace that believed the Seer to be some sort of crazy stalker.
"Two hearts." he raced into the TARDIS, then came back out a few moments later carrying a stethoscope, "Feel free to check."
Slowly, not entirely sure if she trusted the man, Grace Halloway took the stethoscope from the brown-haired man that called himself the Doctor. She set it up and put it first to the left side of his body, then the right. Her face went pale as she double checked her findings. Yes. This was the same man, the same double-hearted Doctor that she had saved the world with.
Grace draped the stethoscope around her neck out of habit and, looking at the Police Box in front of her, asked, "Is that the same one.... that, what did you call it? TARDIS?"
"Same one, but it's changed as well." It had changed at least twice since Grace had last seen it's interior.
Grace came towards it in a dream-like trance, "Can I?" she asked, gesturing to the inside of the box. The Doctor nodded and Grace slowly slid past Amy and into the bigger-on-the-inside time machine.
Amy, still standing by, looked at the Doctor and asked, "Who the heck is that, Doctor?"
"An old friend of mine." the Doctor answered vaguely.
"She looks human. What is she doing here?" Amy inquired.
"That's what I want to find out, Amy." the Doctor answered, slipping past her like Grace had just done a minute ago.
"Doctor--" Amy called. She was a bit confused. Obviously she couldn't have been the first companion of the Doctor, but.... didn't she have the right to know who this woman was? The TARDIS landed on this place by accident, right? Or was this some sort of crazy plan of the Doctor's to show her some of his old life? Dang, she wanted to talk this over with Rory, but was unable to do so. Thoughts of Rory led her to thoughts of tomorrow. Well, not really tomorrow, but it had been tomorrow when she had left.
'Tomorrow' was her and Rory's wedding day. She stared down numbly at her engagment ring. One trip, she had thought. One trip with the Doctor, then back to tomorrow. Well, it had been more than one trip--a lot more than one trip now. And now they were getting side-tracked--again.
"It's changed so much..." Grace was saying, "A lot more... modern."
"Yep." the Doctor agreed, "Why were you here, Grace?"
"It's a long story." Grace avoided his question.
"Grace, this is a time machine, we have all the time in the world."
"Fine." Grace told the Doctor--and Amy--what had happened. When she told him of the Seer and her TARDIS, she could easily see the Doctor's surprise.
"The Seer..." the Doctor breathed.
"So you know this woman?" Amy and Grace said at the same moment.
"Yes, she studied a year below me when I went to the Academy on Gallifrey." Gallifrey, that place with the field of red grass where he had lain with his father, Grace remembered.
Grace looked at the Doctor, surprised, "She told me that she'd come back."
"She might have, she might not. But let's get you back home, shall we?" The Doctor pranced around the console working the controls like the crazy madman that he was, "Off we go."
This time, the TARDIS shuddered during the entire ride. The Time Lord and two 21st century women held on for dear life while the time machine shook and roared. When the TARDIS thudded to a stop, the Doctor tore open the door and stood in the door frame, shocked.
Behind him, the girls shied away from the console as it popped and began to smoke. On the scanner were the frightening words:
