12. Come With Me

Gallifreyans gathered before the two towering mountains of Gallifrey. They were in two rows with a single space down the middle, just enough for a single person to walk to the front. They were dressed in a mixture of colours, however no one wore black. That was a colour that only the family wore and the Master had no family left to speak of.

The Seer stood in front of the crowd on the right. For some reason tears were making trails down her face. She didn't know why. She looked back at the empty path between the two crowds. By her watch, that path wouldn't be empty much longer. And sure enough, the Doctor came down the row, walking slowly as he carried a black box that bore a golden Seal of Rassilon.

When he emerged from between the two crowds, he opened the box. He looked down at it for a moment, a tear escaping his eye before throwing the contents into the wind. The ashes flew up and away in a sudden gust of strong wind. Only a few remained upon the ground.

The Doctor stepped back, more tears leaking from his eyes. He joined the Seer in the crowd, watching as the last of the ashes blew into the Mountain of Solace.

As quickly as the ashes disappeared, so did the people. Soon there were only a few Time Lords left and that was when the Seer gently led the Doctor away. This time she led him under a tall tree that was just starting to bud its silver leaves.

The Doctor slid down against the tree trunk until he sat on the ground. He didn't care about dirtying the red ceremonial robes that he wore. The Seer sat beside him as a silent comfort. The Doctor looked up at the single sun that was now almost gone beneath the horizon.

Then he spoke, "Would you like a travelling companion?"

The Seer was surprised, both by the fact that he spoke and by his question. They had been sitting under the tree for the equivalent of what humans called an hour.

"Most likely not." she answered honestly.

"Why is that? Isn't it hard to fly a TARDIS with only one person?"

"Time capsules have changed since you stole them, Doctor?" she smiled.

"You still need more than one Time Lord to fly one properly, though. Am I right?"

      "Yes," the Seer admitted.

"So?" the word was more like an unsaid plea of 'come with me... please! I'm lonely!'

"Whose TARDIS would we use?" the Seer asked. The Doctor shrugged.

"A TARDIS is a TARDIS, it doesn't matter. Unless it matters to you, Seer?" the Docto questioned. She shook her head. Her hair shone in the quickly disappearing sunlight. Interesting regeneration choice, that was for sure. Shiny silver hair. It would be hard to miss her in a crowd, what with her hair that looked like strips of metal...strips of tin. But more beautiful.

"Well, let's see if we can fix that chameleon circuit of yours." the Time Lady smiled. The Doctor nodded and stood.

"Where first?" he asked, offering her a hand which she didn't take. She did a crap-like pose then stood up, looking as if she had no spine. Kind of like doing the "bridge" yoga pose backwards. Flexible.

"Follow me in your TARDIS. I have to hide mine somewhere."

"Hide yours? Why not leave it here?" He was confused about her actions.

"Let's just say that the Shobogan are not the only ones that are foolish and dangerous." The Doctor scratched the back of his head, trying to figure out what she meant without jumping to conclusions. The Seer wouldn't tell him when he asked, however. She simply dematerialized in her TARDIS which had been disguised as a small abandoned tavern. He shook his head and followed her, tracking the path of her TARDIS.

When he opened the door of his box, he found himself to be on a beach with green water and golden beaches. The Seer was leaningagainst a hut labelled the "Snack Shack." From the lack of interior lighting he could tell it was her TARDIS. When she moved aside the Doctor saw a red and white sign that read, 'Closed for Business. Be back later.'

Yeah, they'd be back later... much later. Or maybe only five minutes from now. Time travel was great for vacations like that.

Out of the blue, the Seer asked, "What time did you return Grace to?"

The Doctor thought for a moment, "2010, I think. Why?"

"What time in 2010?" she sounded worried and the Doctor didn't know why. She didn't care much for humans. Well... no more than any other race at least. He was the one with a soft spot for the human race.

"March, I think. I don't know exactly when. Why the worry?"

"Something was going to happen and I needed her to avoid it."

"Why choose her out of all the humans?"

"She... she was a..." the Seer sighed and finished with, "Because I did. Why me out of all the Time Lords?" The Doctor said nothing, but just looked around. "That's what I thought." she said to herself.

The Doctor slowly walked back towards the dark blue dimensionally transcedental time ship. He looked back at the Seer, who was still leaning against her own TARDIS. He then walked farther into his TARDIS, leaving the door open for her. He went to the record player and set the needle on the disk once again. Then he wandered over to his favourite chair and picked up the hard cover copy of "The Time Machine" by HG Wells.

A brilliant man, Mister Wells. Wrote things like The Invisible Man, Frankenstein. No... wait... Frankenstein was Mary Shelley. He flipped through the pages, trying to find his spot. That was when the Seer entered the TARDIS.

The doors closed behind her. The Doctor had just stood up when he heard the time rotor roaring away. She was quick. He had to give her that. It wasn't even a minute she had been in the TARDIS and already the engines were roaring. He left HG Wells on the chair and joined the Seer at the console.

"You never said where we would go." he said, looking at her from around the console.

"Go ahead, look." she told him, pointing to the blocks that told their destination. He followed her advice. But when he got there, what he found didn't surprise him much.

"Random." he said with a smile on his face, "Just the way I like it."

"More fun that way." she agreed. The Doctor joined her in flying the TARDIS.

It wasn't long before the sound of the engines faded. The Doctor wiped a bit of sweat off his brow. Even with a Time Lady on board, it was still a lot of running around, pressing buttons and pulling levers. Checking  screens and gauges. Yet it never got old.

"Come on." the Seer already had the doors open. Outside was a cobblestone street with an open market to either side. The Doctor exited the TARDIS, the record playing the fading notes of its final song. It wasn't earth but a world where aliens really looked... well, like aliens. Their skin was coloured blue, green and even, sometimes purple. They spoke in a rough tongue that, without the TARDIS, would have been hard to understand, even if one spoke the language.

The vendors were selling everything from fruits and meat to blackmarket items. All in broad daylight with shouting loud and clear in the air, "Come buy my stock! Come see what I have to offer!" A great place to explore alone. And one that would be even better with a friend.

The Seer grabbed the Time Lord's hand and forced him to run, "Come with me." she whispered, "Let's have some fun."

A/N: I hope you enjoyed that. I'm hoping to write a sequel and, if this one gets enough reads, post it for people to read. Please. Vote and comment! I love reading people's comments and I really haven't gotten many so far.

Well, thanks again for reading and please check out my other works! I'd really appreciate it. :)
