Ch.18 Head and Heart Aches

"Lana, you know where the aspirin is?"

I laughed. "Your in luck, there's 2 more." I said as I handed them to him.

Brandon's face looked pained. "Ugh, my head is killing me." He said as he took the pills.

"Well, that was on you for drinking so much." I said to him as I handed him a cup of coffee and breakfast.

"Please, get that out of face before I puke." He said as he shoved it away.

"Alright but your going to eat this at some point." I said as I put it in the refrigerator.

"Not now I'm not."

I couldn't help but laugh. Sara came in sipping a cup of coffee. "You hungry, Sara?" I asked.

"Good and merciful lord, no." She said in a grumpy tone.

"You know this is the first time I've ever seen either of you drink or not be happy." I said as she looked at me.

"That's cause we usually don't drink unless it's a special occasion." She said with her hand on her head. "But it was worth it."

"What about you? You didn't drink right?"

"Brandon, I'm not stupid. I don't drink in general let along when I'm pregnant." I said.

"Good. What all happened?" He asked.

"Um, well we talked about random stuff and you made me dance with you."

"I don't remember that."

I nodded. "Well, you did and you stood on your chair and announced that you were going to be a dad and Aaron was like, "No way, good for you," and then you passed out."

His face got red. "Really?"

"Yeah, and when I went to get you up you asked me why and said it wasn't even bed time."

"So, I acted like an idiot."

I smiled and nodded. "Pretty much."

"Ugh, then it's good I don't remember that."

I laughed along with Sara. "I remember that." She said.

His face got even redder as he smiled in embarrassment. Suddenly a man came running up.

"Brandon, you need to see this." He said to Brandon but he froze and looked at me.

"Spears, what is it?" Brandon asked as he stood up out of his chair.

"Sir, Drake was murdered 4 days ago." Spears said as he handed Brandon a news paper.

Man murdered in woods on July 1, 2017. Police say he was shot several times in his home. It was reported that nothing was stolen and that it may have been gang related. Chief John Grey reported that the man was carrying an unregistered weapon. However the man's identity has not been released.

Brandon showed me the paper. There was a picture of the police officer. He resembled the man I saw in the store but was older and shorter.

"That chief is one of the hunters. He may be responsible for Drake's death." Spears said.

"Are you sure?" Brandon asked as he looked over to me.

"Yes sir, he's definitely one of them."

Brandon kissed me. "I'm going to be right back." He said before he went out the door.

I looked at Sara and she looked down at the paper. There was a picture of a body covered with a sheet. "Looks like we found you." Sara said with a smirk to the picture of the officer.
