1 Week Later.....................................

I woke up to Lucian crying. "Ugh, it's your turn." Brandon said to me.

"I don't want to." I said as I got up and went to Lucian.

I picked him up and rocked him back to sleep. Once he was out I laid him down with Brandon and me. Lucky for me he slept the rest of the night.

I woke up again to him laughing. The good thing was that he was growing fast but he slowed down recently. But he was able to laugh, smile, and focus on me. Which was good because he did look like a crazy person with his eyes rolling around like that.

"Shhhh, your gonna wake up your momma." Brandon said to Lucian. I was still laying in bed so I guess he thought I was sleeping.

Lucian kept laughing though. When I sat up Brandon's face got a little red. "Did we wake you?" He asked.

I would have smiled but I don't smile when I first wake up. Honestly, I don't even know if it's possible to do that. "No." I yawned.

I brushed my teeth and got dressed. Brandon was still shirtless and in his pj bottoms. "How's that spot?"

I looked at my belly. It still had that bruise but it was almost completely faded. Luckily for me most of everything was back to normal. I think it's a good thing wolves don't store fat because my stomach would still be like a deflated balloon.

"Why isn't this thing gone by now? My wounds usually heal within minutes." I asked.

He shrugged. "I don't know." He said as he gave me a long kiss.

I smiled. "You know I've been thinking."

"Uh-oh, she's been thinking." He said to Lucian. Lucian just smiled and cooed.

"Oh hush, now since we have little Lucian I was thinking we could live like humans." Brandon's eyes widened.

"Like humans? Why would we want to live like that?" He asked curiously.

"Because. Just think, we could hid among them. The thing is, if we blend in the hunters won't realize who we are. I mean look at us, we live in the woods. It's a little suspicious, don't you think?"

He smiled at Lucian. "I don't know. What are going to do about our house and our bills?"

I kissed him again and laid my head against against his shoulder like a kid. "Aww come on, we can control ourselves and we'll teach Lucian to do the same. If we live out in the open then the people will think we're humans too. We can pretend we just moved here and we can make friends with the humans."

He looked down at me. "It sounds great. Living without fear. Without having to worry about our son. But what about school and jobs?"

"Lucian can go to school like a human." I said as if the idea was final.

"What if he gets in a fight and changes? People will know he's our son and kill us because we're different."

"I can be a teacher. That way I know where he's at and what he's doing and I'll have a job all in one."

He gave me a look. "You have to go to college for that."

"Oh please, who said I didn't?"

"I said you didn't. We both spent our lives as wolves. We didn't need an education."

"There are ways of faking it. Plus we have everyday skills."

"Alright so let me get this straight, you want us live like humans, acted like humans and raise our son like he's a human?" He asked. "But I'm Alfa. I can't just leave my pack or what's left of them to fend for themselves while I go off and pretend to be a human."

"Well, how about this. We just "bought" this land and the pack lives here while we are the face. We are "humans" that just moved here and while we are the owners the rest of the pack lives here. Legally people can't trespass on our land and if they do we have the right to harm them."

He was speechless. "Well.............. when you put it like that........ it doesn't sound that bad."

I smiled. "I know. Just think, no one has to know what we are. And we can runaround as wolves on our property without no one hunting us."

"Really?"

I nodded. "Yep."

He smiled at me and then looked at Lucian. I could tell he was concerned about our future. Us living out in the open like that was remarkably brave.

"Besides, if you need an education there are classes online."

"Alright, let's do it." He said after a moment's hesitation.

I couldn't help but smile. We were going to be free from hiding. Free from the hunters and free from the war between us that's been going on for generations.

"Want some breakfast?" I asked Brandon as I walked to kitchen.

I cooked pancakes, bacon, eggs and toast. Brandon came in and set Lucian down in his chair and took a seat at the table. I put some food in front on Brandon and gave Lucian a bottle.

Once we were done eating breakfast we discussed the idea a little more. "So what do you think?" I asked hoping he would say "yes".

"Maybe."

"Is that a yes or a no?" I asked. I was unsure if he wanted to.

"It's a we'll see."

I looked over at Lucian. He was already looking like Brandon. He had brown eyes and dark brown hair. I smiled thinking of how much they looked like each other in my dream.

"What?" Brandon asked.

"Oh, nothing."

"Well, you must be smiling about something." He said as looked at Lucian.

"Well, I had a dream a long time ago and I dreamed that he looked just like you. And he's already on his way."

He chuckled and gave me a kiss. "Well, hopefully our next looks like you."
