"STOP, I didn't see them." Alice suddenly says as the ball goes soaring past dad who was too busy paying attention to Alice's sudden outburst to even try to get the ball
Edward is immediately at Bella's side when we all gather at home plate
"You said they left the county" Rosalie muttered (yes county not country)
"They did, but then they heard us," Alice looked at Edward and continued "and changed their mind."
"Put your hair down." Edward ordered Bella
"As if that'll help, I could smell her from across the field." Rosalie mutters
Edward ignores Rosalie as he arranges Bella's hair
"I shouldn't have brought you here. I am so sorry." Edward whispers to Bella
She'd probably ask why, but we all turned to the edge of the forest when we smell a new scent
There's a faint rustle, then a few yards away is a lady with crazy red hair, a dark skinned man with dreadlocks, and a guy with his blond hair pulled back into a ponytail.
"I believe this belongs to you." the dark skinned man says tossing the ball at dad, who easily catches it in his right hand and smiles politely
"Thank you" dad says
"Could you use three more players?" the dark skinned man asks
"Of course." dad answers
"My name is Laurent, this is Victoria and James." the man I now know as Laurent says
"Pleasure. Would you like to bat first?" dad suggests
Laurent picks up a bat, dad is catcher and Edward takes first base with Bella behind him; near the jeep
Edwards eyes are locked on James while Laurent goes up to bat
"I'm afraid your hunting activities has caused something of a mess for us." dad being the leader of the coven says
"Our apologies. We didn't realize the territory had been claimed." Laurent says looking straight ahead
"Yes, we maintain a permanent residence." Dad explains
The three newcomers exchange a look of surprise.
"Really? Well we won't be a problem anymore." Laurent says
"The humans were tracking us, but we led them East-" Victoria gets cut off when Jasper pitches the ball
Laurent smashes it, but Alice is up a tree in a flash and the ball slams into her hand. With a loud THWAP, Laurent angrily drops the bat. James is smiling from the discovery of worthy opponents.
James is up next and hits the ball with amazing force
He runs past first, past Edward, past Bella
In slow motion the ball ruffles her hair, driving her scent right into James' nostrils; who suddenly screeches to a halt. His head whips around and he lurches into a crouch his nostrils flaring, excitedly, eyes locked on Bella.
"You brought a snack." James speaks slowly
Edward springs in front of Bella, baring his teeth. A truly menacing, feral snarl rips through his throat as James growls back
