I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping away, and the sun blinding me; with my eyes closed! I groaned. Whoever said that waking up to singing birds and rays of light is beautiful, were wrong! I struggled to open my eyes, and brought my hands up to help me. Rubbing them, now probably black from my make-up yesterday, which I forgot to rub off, I slowly opened them up, only to close them again. I sighed and just dealt with the light. I quickly got up and stumbled to my window, closing the blinds. That's better!
I opened my eyes properly now, and soon enough they adjusted to the now dark room. I looked around; everything was abnormally clean. Usually, it's always messy. Guess I've just had so much free time on my hands, what with my good friend Stacey moving away.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jade Reeds, and I'm 17 years old. I now live in California, though I grew up in Texas. I go to school here in California, but I'm not gonna talk about school - let's just say it's like any other school! You got your populars, your geeks, your emos, the in-betweens, which is the category I fall into, and etc. So as I said; like every other school. I live with mymum, and it's just us two, since my dad passed away. But I'm not going to say how - I don't feel like crying so early in the morning!
I sighed and walked over to my walk-in robe. I guess you could say we're well off; my dad use to be a lawyer, and left behind a lot of money. But my mum hardly uses it; she's got it locked away in a bank account for me. Whenever she uses it, she feels guilty.
I picked out a pair of skinny jeans to wear with a black top, which had a design of paint splatters everywhere. This top is my favorite top in the world. It's just so creative, I love it. Now would also be a good time to tell you that I'm pretty into art. I like to paint a lot; it's the only time I can actually think clearly, where I can get away from life.
After I was dressed, I straightened my long brown hair and curled the end bits over. I coated my lashes in black, which fell over my medium toned blue eyes. I added some blush to my cheeks, finishing off with a coat of lip-gloss and I'm ready for my Saturday.
I jogged down the sixteen steps or so to the bottom, and then walked the rest of the small way to the kitchen. I knew mum was up before I saw her cooking pancakes, which she only made when she had bad new, gulp!, because I had heard her sluggishly slumping down the stairs when I was doing my hair.
"Morning, mum!" I called to her, ignoring the fact I was about to be bombarded with bad news. She spun around and I saw she had the sponge; she was now also cleaning the dishes. Hm, must be something bad. Maybe we had to move. Haha, that would actually be, secretly of course, good for me. I hated my school sooo much! Not because I wasn't in the 'in' crowd like last time, I mean I could perfectly fit in with them like I did my old school, there's just a difference between these 'populars' and the last ones. The last ones weren't actually shallow. They were REAL friends, they had respect for themselves, and they definitely never made anyone's lives hell. Unlike the people at my new school; as soon as they realized I didn't want anything to do with them, even after their 'nice welcoming' of 'warm' smiles and what not, they decided they'd hate on me instead. Oh well, it didn't bother me. They could hate me for all I care. That's not what's getting to me. What's getting to me is the fact that they're all a bunch of mis-fit sluts! I truly dislike them all!
I realized my mum was trying to get my attention. "For the love of all what's holly, will you listen to me already?" She waved a hand in front of my face. "Honestly! Sometimes I think you've been taken over by aliens!" She rolled her eyes. "Huh?" Was my very brilliant response.
Mum sighed. "Well, as you know, I usually, well, uh, you know..." She trailed off, looking to the side, which seemed to be suddenly very interesting; though it was a wall. A wall of white paint. "Yeah, yeah. I know; bad news. What is it, mum?" I asked her, cutting to the chase and saving her a lot of strife. "Oh, um yes well. I do have bad news, and I'm not sure how to break it to you. Would you prefer softening up, or for me to just sa-" I cut her off short. "Just come right out with it, mum." I said, giving her a faint smile. I was actually a little curious, excited even. Sometimes, what might be bad news to her might not be to me; and vice versa.
"Well, someone we haven't seen for a while is coming down. They really miss us, and want to catch up. And so I suggested coming down to stay fo-" She started, but again I cut her off. "Mum. I said the quick attempt; please." I told her exasperated. "Um, alright. Well, you, uh, remember Cathryn?" She asked me, beginning for attempt three. I tried to remember a Cathryn, but I was coming up blank. "Um... Refresh my memor- OH! Yes, I... Wait. No way?!" I shouted as realization hit me. "Jade! Calm down!" She told me fiercely, but I ignored her. "No way mum! He's NOT staying here!" I told her, with hopefully a strong tone which said, that is that.
Let me tell you who Cathryn is. Cathryn is my mothers old friend. We met her and her family back in Texas, and my mum and Cathryn became really good friends. They were always laughing, going out and what not, and they were really close. But then Cathryn's family had to move away. Including Cathryn's son, who WAS my bestfriend. Now ex-bestfriend. The very same ex-bestfriend which is famous. The very same one who is going to be coming to 'visit.' That ex-best friends name is Cody.
"Mum! Cody Linley isn't staying here." I told her slowly and clearly before running up the stairs to my room; slamming my door.
