We didn't really even get in to any trouble for being late to homeroom; all we got was a long-ass lecture, but then we were free to go to class. Yippee! Note the sarcasm.
After our lecture, the day seemed to go pretty fast. Time flew by without me even noticing, until Kelsie woke me up from my daydreaming in class and told me to hurry my ass up so that we didn't have to wait in a big cafeteria line. I groaned and reluctantly got up anyway.
We chucked out books away and kept what we needed, then headed for the cafeteria. The line was thankfully not that big, and in less than two minutes I had my mayonnaise chicken salad and my orange juice, Kelsie with her pizza and water, and we were off to sit at our usual table. Everyone knew to never sit here, cos this is where we always do.
We sat and ate quietly for a while, until Kelsie spoke. "So, how you holding up? You know, about everything?" She asked me uncertainly. I let out a long sigh, and said, "I dunno. I mean, I obviously want to chuck mum in a river for even saying yes to him staying, but other then that, I just... Don't know." I said truthfully. She nodded with sympathy, and I think she knew I wanted to change the subject, because we were suddenly onto a new topic.
"So, um. I want to tell you something... You know how you were telling me earlier about James?" She asked me nervously, which was out of character for her. She's never really nervous; she's always been the out-going fun type. "Well, yeah?" I asked her with one of my eyebrows raised. "What's up?" I asked her. "Well, I, uh..." She started, and then something clicked in my brain, and I remembered something she had told me right before mum made those stupid yummy pancakes!
"Oh, hey, didn't you say, like, last week, that you liked a Ja- Oh." I stopped when I realized, and then I let out a long, 'Naaaaaaaw!' She immediately blushed a light shade of pink, and then a tray slammed down in between us, scaring the shit out of me.
I looked up to see James smirking. "Yeah, Naaaaaaaw!" He mimicked me, making me laugh. "Wait, who are we, 'Naaaaaaaw', ing?" He asked us suspiciously. Kelsie had turned a redder shade of... Well, red now, not pink. And she looked like she was going to die. I wonder if he heard us. Surely that's what she's wondering, too?
"Oh, I see how it is ladies; you can't share secrets with me?" He said as he pouted, putting his hand over his heart, pretending to be hurt. "Fine then, I'll go somewhere else, somewhere where my presence is acknowledged, and wanted!" He, 'hmpfd', as he continued acting, standing up from the table. This caused Kelsie and I to burst out in laughter at his overly bad acting skills.
He chuckled and sat back down, putting back his tray which had acted as a prop and had been picked up with more force then necessary. He grinned at me, and then turned his head to Kelsie. "And you're the famous Kelsie, of couse I know of you, though I've never had the pleasure of meeting you officially." He said with and English accent, and he kept up the very same accent as he asked her, "May I shake your hand?" He looked expectantly at her, and when I turned to look at her, I was shocked. I thought she would still be pink, frozen in place; but instead she was laughing and pushing his hand away.
"Oh, please!" She laughed again after he took back his hand. "I don't live in England, I live in America, and I don't shake hands, I give head nods, or hi-fives. Sometimes, if you're lucky, I give both!" She laughed as she started acting all gangsta-like. Ah, that's my Kelsie! I laughed with James at her acting skills, which were in no way, better then his, and James put his hand up expectantly. Kelsie hi-fived him, and as she did, I saw shock come over James. But only for a mere-second, as he then re-constructed his shocked face. I wonder if Kelsie saw it...
"So do I get a head-nod to go with it?" He asked her jokingly, and she laughed as she gave him one. He done one back, and as he did, I could see these two as a couple. They would be perfect for each other. The funny, loving and caring guy with the out-going, loud chickadee. Perfecto!
"So, where are you're devils?" I asked him with a smile. I guess it had sort of become mine and Kelsie's nick name for them. "Oh, over at the jock table." He shrugged. "But I'd much rather spend my lunch time with you's when I can get away, or even at least half of lunch. Trust me; it's like slut-mania over there." He rolled back his eyes. "Are you like, gay?" Kelsie asked him, but then instantly realized her question asked, and slapped her left hand over her mouth, her right on top. Her eyes went HUGE. She must have been humiliated as to asking that question, because she was slowly going red.
"Haha, kiddo, chill out! I'm definitely not gay; I've been with many of girls to prove it!" He laughed and it looked like he was thinking back to a memory. Kelsie looked a little hurt, but re-composed her face. "It's just, I'd actually now rather prefer clothed girls then UN-clothed girls. It's like one big orgy over there... I wonder if that's how we always were." He thought out loud. Kels and I looked at each other and then burst out laughing. "YES!" We screamed through our laughter, and shit we were pretty loud. We quietly put our heads down, away from the attention as James just chuckled a throaty laugh which made the table shake a little.
"So, what changed you?" I asked him as I took a piece of chicken coated in mayo from my bundle of salad onto my fork, and then shoved it into my mouth. Gee, I didn't realize that I was pretty hungry. "Oh, you know..." He said as he bit into his pie. "I started to actually LIKE a girl for the first time, probably since, well, uh, pre-school? Maybe... Maybe earlier." We laughed as he said this, but I could see that Kelsie looked hurt. She seemed to really like him, the way she was talking to me last week, though I was barely listening, I could still smell love when it was right up in my face! Haha, that sounds so weird and stupid, but yeah. You get what I mean.
The bell rang about twenty minutes later, and James stayed with us to eat, and as we did, we, James, Kelsie and I, obviously, just talked about little random things. We all got up and chucked out our leftovers, putting the trays in the, 'need's to be cleaned!', bin. Then we all took off and headed our separate ways for class.
