Boston's POV

She fell asleep quickly, not saying anything about how I basically just told her that I loved her. Maybe she thought I meant just as friends, little did she know...

I wish I could just tell her. I wish I could kiss her right now. Oh what I would do to this girl.

I've liked her since the day I saw her. I remember this so vividly even though I was in first grade. She was in the incoming kindergarten class. The first time I saw her, she was on the playground by herself. I was way too nervous to ask for her name so I just started calling her Red after the color of her hair.

Since I was a year older we didn't have any of the same classes together, I didn't really get to talk to her until she moved in next door two years later. Then we became best friends, but I was always too afraid to tell her that I actually liked her more than friends.

Around the time I got to high school I became more of the "bad boy" of the town. She was still in middle school and I made new friends. At high school, everyone liked me. I was no longer afraid to talk to girls or tell them I liked them. That's when I got the "player" reputation. Also around the same time I started fighting.

My dad left around that same time too, leaving me and Mom alone. She opened up the cafe and made me start working there as punishment for getting into trouble all the time. I hated working there, that is until Mom offered the girl next door a job.

Long story short I've basically been in love with her my entire life. If only I knew how she felt.

I awoke to the light streaming through the windows. I opened my eyes to find Red laying practically on top of me. This was something I could get used to.

I took in the way her lips were parted slightly and her hair was flung around her in a red halo. She was the most beautiful girl i've ever seen. I just wanted her to be mine.

Carefully I moved out from under her. It was only nine and I knew that she needed to sleep. She hadn't gotten much of it the past week, between staying as late as she possibly could at the cafe and coming over here early in the mornings.

I tiptoed around my room, grabbing my running shoes and clothes to change into. Then I left, shutting the door behind me.

I changed in the bathroom and headed downstairs for breakfast.

"Hey, you got in late," Mom remarked as I reached the bottom.

"Aren't you supposed to be at the cafe?" I asked her, heading straight to the kitchen.

"Brad's got it covered. I have to take Bella to the doctor, I think she's sick again," she sighed. "Where were you last night?"

"Just out," I shrugged, bringing a coffee cup to my lips.

"You and Scarlett closed up the cafe right?" I nodded. "Were you out with her?" I rolled my eyes and she smiled. "Have you asked her out yet?"

"No," I sighed. "By the way, she's asleep upstairs. Okay, i'm going for a run," I smiled and turned on my heel.

"Boston! You didn't!" She screeched, coming after me.

"Didn't what? C'mon Mom have a little more faith in your son. I'm not that much of a player."

"So i'm just supposed to believe you two were up in your room all night and you didn't do anything?"

"Yes, exactly what you're supposed to believe. She's my best friend. Nothing more," and with that I opened the front door and left. I wish she was more that that.
