Scarlett's POV
"Carson! We have got to go!" I yelled from the bottom of the stairs. His game started in thirty minutes. There is no way we are making it in time for him to warm up. I turned to Carmine. "I'm gonna strangle your brother."
She laughed. "Not if I strangle him first."
I could hear his footsteps upstairs. "Your grandparents are gonna be very disappointed if you don't make it to your first football game of the season. They came all the way to watch you play! Let's go!"
"I'm coming, i'm coming!" he yelled, followed by his footsteps pounding down the stairs.
He looked so cute in his football gear. He was only eight, but so tall and grown up looking. I stopped to take in his appearance for a second.
"Come on mom!" Carmine said, pulling me by the arm.
"Right, the game. Go," I told them and they took off running towards the car.
"Beat yah!" Carmine laughed. It was always a competition with those two, I swear.
When we got to the stadium we made it just in time. Carson sprinted to the field while I parked the car.
"I can't believe I have to sit here through this entire game," Carmine groaned as we sat down in the bleachers.
"He goes to all of your volleyball games and soccer and basketball games. Oh also your softball and tennis," I said with a smile.
"Yeah, yeah," she rolled her eyes. "He's so annoying though." I looked down to the field and all of his friends were crowded around him. One of them looked up to us and waved. "And all of his friends like me. Gross, they are two years younger than me."
I laughed. "That's never gonna go away. But yes, boys are gross, you're not allowed to date until you're eighteen."
"Mom," she groaned.
"No, you're not allowed to date ever," Boston said. I turned around to see him climbing up the stairs.
"Dad!" Carmine screeched and ran to him, throwing her arms around his neck. "I thought you couldn't get off of work?"
"How could I miss this?" he laughed, setting her down. "But don't try and change the subject on me." I smiled at him and he kissed my cheek, then turned back to Carmine. "No boys."
"But i'm already ten years old, dad. My friend Carly already has a boyfriend," she told him, crossing her arms.
He scoffed. "Well you're not allowed until you're eighteen, maybe I should raise it to twenty."
"Mom is only twenty-seven. That means she had me when she was seventeen. So you guys dated before you were eighteen."
Boston raised his eyebrows at her. "We will discuss this later."
Carmine rolled her eyes at him. I laughed and then I saw Brad and Maria coming our way, Bella following them.
"Yay! Bella came. Now I don't have to talk to dad the whole time," Carmine said. She got up and ran to them, hugging her grandparents before running off with Bella.
"You made it!" I smiled.
"We wouldn't miss this for the world," Maria laughed. "How is Sammy?"
"He's good. I talked to him earlier. He started his student teaching today."
"That's wonderful!" she smiled. "Oh, it's starting. This is just like when Boston was little, ah!" she squealed in excitement.
I laughed and Boston wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"Love you," he said and kissed my forehead.
"Love you too."
