Shit. I looked over at Jason and signed that it’s something personal. I didn’t wait for him to turn around and just proceeded outdoors. Whatever shit storm I’m about to hear from Christian, I’m sure I’m going to react to it violently. Jason doesn’t need to hear about it.
“What about dad.” I asked Christian when I was out of ear shot.
“He just found Sam’s foster parents.”
“What?!” I shouted over.
“Brad overheard him say something about arresting the couple.”
“Shit.” I muttered.
“There’s more. He’s questioning them where Sam lives.”
“Damn it.”
Shit hits the fan now, real good. Dad had certainly outdone himself this time. Going for her foster parents was the last thing I thought he would do. Something near about taking Sam by the school grounds was the worst I thought of. But he actually covered that base first before he plans on doing that. He’s really determined this time. Him doing the questioning, I’m sure he’ll squeeze out her address pretty quickly. I’m sure this afternoon, SWAT teams would be raining down on her apartment and here in no time.
“At least they didn’t know her address.” Christian said on the other line.
It was a little comforting to know that she didn’t her address to her foster parents. At the very least that would buy us some time. Unfortunately, with dad rallying these much resources meant that he won’t take long to find out about where we are hiding.
“That won’t stop dad.” I stated. I’m sure Christian knows the same but I needed to state the obvious to inform him that I know.
“It didn’t. It popped a few of dad’s nerves for a few hours and the house shook each time he yelled at his sources. But you know him.” He said stating what I know.
I know him. Everyone he hunted down knows him. He’s the guy who would bring out the bloodhounds if he can’t find his target the conventional way. And he’ll walk miles if he needs to. To date, no one got away from him.
“I’ll be picking you up this afternoon. Don’t attend your practice and be sure Sam’s with you. Brad’s booked you a hotel and you’re staying there for a few days. Leila will be there with your luggage.”
“Is that really necessary?” I asked him.
I am, I believe, am ready to face what wrath dad is bringing. There’s no other way around it, and prolonging it would only shorten dad’s wick. I’m sure by now he’s figured out and I’m sure defending Sam would be easier than before.
“We’ll try to reason out with him first before you too talk. He’s still hot on you. We need to dampen it down or he’ll blow up at your first sight.”
That sounds like dad alright.
“How about mom?”
“We’ve already taken hold of mom but she won’t budge until dad does.”
That sounds like mom. Mom doesn’t always agree with dad, but when she plays the ‘go ask your dad’ card, that meant that ‘I’ve heard your dad’s opinion on the matter and I’m convinced his doing the right thing.’ There is the part where she explains our side in ‘dad language’ but when dad decides on it, she’ll support it because of her belief. Some of the time mom persuades dad to change his mind. Rarely, but still happens. I am hoping that this is one of those times.
“Where is he now with her address?”
“He seems close. Sam lives about half an hour from Tokyo St. right?”
