We had been dating for two months when he told me he had to go away on tour. I didn't like the idea of being away from him, but here was nothing I could do. He had to go, and my life was here so I couldn't go with him as he wanted.
"Hey miss," I heard someone catcall me as I walked down the street, and I looked in the direction of the voice. I couldn't see the speaker, because he was in the alley between two stores. I picked up my pace, but they began to follow quick behind. I surveyed the area and realized every shop was closed, and there were only streetlights to illuminate the darkness for the night sky. Suddenly, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me into the alley.
I protested as much as I could, but he just slapped me. I shut up after that. He was quiet for a minute before I heard him mess with his belt buckle and he slipped down his pants.
"Please! No! Don't do this! I won't tell anyone," I promised hysterically, and he just chuckled.
"Shut up," he said firmly, and I began to cry.
"Please," I whispered, and suddenly a bright light was shone on us. A copper stood behind the light, and I let out a breath of relief. I was saved.
"Ma'am, in going to need you to come in for an account of the incident," the officer said as he put the man in the backseat of his cop car. I got into the seat next to him and I was shaking. I couldn't say anything, anything at all, so I just stared outside of the window. Everything felt so unreal.
I don't remember giving my witness account, I don't remember leaving. I don't remember arriving home. I do remember calling Paul, however.
"Hi,Liz! I'm so sorry I haven't called! I've been so busy with the tour and such," he gushed, and I listened with my back against the wall right next to the phone hook. Suddenly, I couldn't hear what he was saying anymore. I just kept replaying the scenes in my head. My father, the incident tonight. I couldn't handle it anymore, and I slid down the wall until I was sitting with my legs bent at my chest. I began to sob uncontrollably.
"Liz? Are you okay?" He asked apprehensively, and I just kept crying. Somehow, it didn't feel real until now.
"I'm not okay," I said timidly, and I began to breathe heavily.
"Liz, Liz, you're okay. It's okay. Shhh," he tried to calm me down, and it helped a bit.
"Paul, there was this guy when I was walking home and the alley and-" I stuttered, and Paul reassured me.
"Liz, you're okay now. Just talk to me," he said, and so I slowly told him the whole story.
"I'm coming home," he said firmly, and I felt bad for telling him now.
"No!" I shouted a bit too loudly, so I lowered my voice, "don't. I'm fine now. You know, I shouldn't have even bothered you. I'm sorry," I said huffily, but it was too late. He came home on the next flight.
